EQ50 Skate Thread

Recommended Posts

I have never had Easton skates before, now i would like to order online these EQ50.

Just like to know something about the sizing. I'm wearing Reebok 11K 8.5E now, and my shoe size is about 10 (EUR44). So what would be my size?

Thanks.

I'd put you in a 8,5 W (EE ) ... if you insist on ordering online

lol keeping this one alive everybody :) I've been trying to search more info on the EQ50 and I'm wondering now if anyone is still using them or moved on to different skates. I'm currently skating in Reebok Platinum 5.5D and while they feel great in the forefoot(no pain finally) it's my heel that doesn't lock in. Even with using the pumps I'm still getting the heel lift so I'm wondering after baking the EQ50s will my heel stay down? I remember trying these on in a LHS but felt there was too much room near the ankle area and I don't remember being told that heating them would make a difference. Now that they have dropped down in price I might just go get EQ50s. I've always liked the fit of Eastons but the durability of their skates needs to be improved. My last pair S12 lasted less than a year so hopefully these ones will be much better.

Having skated in EQ50 and Reebok 11k's, I found that the EQ50 had significantly more heel lock, but a slightly more narrow forefoot than the Reebok. There are no real durability issues with the EQ50. EQ50 is also a much higher-end skate than the S12.

I just picked up a set in 9.5D - they are replacing a set of CCM U+07 (also 9.5D) that were slightly too long for me, not enough heel lock, and way to narrow in the very forefoot.

The Eastons are super comfortable in the forefoot and lock my narrow heel in very well. The only thing I'm starting to notice is that the inside of both of my feet right near the back of the arch is starting to blister rather badly, and it's definitely a 'hot spot' while skating.

I'm going to try swapping around the footbeds - my CCM skates came with very flat footbeds and the Eastons have thicker, more contoured ones, almost like a mini-Superfoot without the plastic. Failing that, i'll try some Superfeet yellow and see how that goes.

Aside from that, I love them, much stiffer than the CCMs and the chirping noise the Easton elite blade/holder makes is amusing. :)

Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but I'm in need of new skates and picked up a pair of EQ 50s on clearance. I'm coming from an older pair of Easton Synergy 750s. I'm trying to decide if I want to keep them. The fit feels good. I'm in the correct length and width, and I'm getting great heal lock. My only concern is the tongue. From reading this thread and JR's long-term review, I know the tongue is moldable. My question is how moldable? I've never had a pair of skates where the tongue contained heat moldable materials. The hard lace bite protector is digging into the top of my foot a bit. If I bake them, will that part mold to my foot?
