ccm protacks equivalent skate?

Recommended Posts

We have been skating on CCM ProTacks Skates that were converted to inline hockey skates. Unfortunately, the skates were discontinued a while back and the boots are starting to break down and will need to be replaced soon. I was wondering if there are any current or recent vintage ice hockey skates that have the same/similar fit/feel as the old CCM ProTacks ice skates (black and white)? I am looking for skates that are equivalent to a CCM 6.5C boot. I will also be posting this in the inline hockey equipment section as well.

Thank you in advance!

As a former Tacks guy I had a successful transition into RBK skates. When deciding what skates to go with after retiring my Tacks I tried on several alternatives and from a width perspective the RBK's were the closest fit. RBK's are very similar in width, but a bit deeper than Tacks, which is a shallow boot. As always, going to your local hockey store to try other skates is recommended. Hopefully they have knowledgeable staff to assist as well. You're likely aware that fit is ultra important when it comes to skating your best. Good luck.

11k would be an easy transition, but it isn't as stiff as the pro tack was originally. Personally, I find that to be a good thing.

This.

I would add, however, that as recent as a year ago CCM would produce a version of the Pro Tack (forget which generation) as a custom skate. Not sure if they will still do this, but it might be worth looking into. Might take a bit of digging to get a real answer on this, though, as it seems not many reps were even aware of this when I last looked into it.
