need new blades.. bauer vs. mission?!?!?

Recommended Posts

The 8.5 will fit slightly LONGER, you will probably still need a EE to accomadate a wider foot. Missions are a bit wider than the vapor last, as they run on the Bauer supreme last. So if you get a mission skate, maybe a D, or maybe a EE. Is there a lhs bear you that carries bauer supreme ice skates?

only one sports store here carries skates i will check and see if they have supremes for fitment..

all i know is that my vapor 30's are 8.5 EE.. and my feet need the EE they are that wide

i want to order some skates asap but i'm in canada so i can't take advantage of return policies like you guys can so i need to make my choice very wisely so i can only get this done once

if you are correct and the inline boots fit slightly larger than the bauer hockey boots i have.. then i will indeed need some 8.5's for bauer correct?.. as for mission i don't know yet until i go and check some skates out if they have them in stock

Regarding outdoor wheels, it all depends if you are interested in grip or longevity, you did mention longevity... so probably the longest lasting outdoor wheel is the Labeda Asphalt's. They have a hardness durometer of about 92A. There are better choices if you want more grip, the Rink Rat Hot Shot Outdoor or the Revision Axis Agent Orange and a number of other good choices.

Apologies for the bump. I'm deciding between the Labeda Asphalt and the Revision Axis Agent Orange for my next set of outdoor wheels and needed some advice for a tight budget. The Labedas cost more, but they claim to be more durable. I skate primarily on asphalt streets outside my home when I'm just messing around. But I also play pickup on smooth outdoor rinks and tennis courts. Durability is slightly more important than performance. Are the Labedas worth the extra cost and does anyone know if they'll actually last longer than the Revisions?

The revisions should perform alittle more like a cheap indoor wheel, like the labeda gripper. The labedas will be less sticky, wear more even, and not split as much. I have user the labedas and they're great.

Thanks for the information. Looks like I'll go for the Labedas and see how far they go.

The agent orange are supposed to be the improved hyper 250 wheel.

+1 for the grippers though. Its hard to imagine they've been around for more than 10 years and still holding up against today's wheels. Their durability/value is still unmatched imo.

If you're not into roller hockey, and just want blades for fitness, why buy a roller hockey skate at all? Especially since you seem to have a decent budget, I would recommend a mid-high range pair of SEBAs, or something similar. You'll be able to pop your skates on and off in 30 seconds instead of five minutes, have less break in time, more overall comfort, better response on streets and other non-ideal surfaces, you can use larger wheels (still wouldn't go above 90mm for non competition-racing), and all around get more quality (for your desired uses) for less money. A pair of SEBA FR1s will only run like $250, will perform better for your uses, and will come with bearings/wheels that are still quite good for fitness skating. A quality SEBA or similar wil hold up, and the parts are all completely replaceable/upgradeble, so you will likely get a longer life out of the skate in general. If ou really want something nice a pair of SEBA High or SEBA Carbon is built for absolute maximum street performance, with top end everything, inc. wheels and bearings, and are LIGHT LIGHT LIGHT weight wise. They will still only set you back around the same price as what you are talking about with hockey boots, given that you won't have to immediately replace any parts, and will be a MUCH better fit for your use.

Don't get me wrong. I love a good hockey boot, but hockey boots have significant drawbacks compared to a standard inline. Those drawbacks are more than compensated for because the hockey boot is designed to hold up to the high high high stress demands that hockey puts on a skate, and because the stiffness that makes it much less comfortable than a typical inline also gives the skate more response for hard cuts and stops. But you don't need a skate that will hold up to the stresses of hockey, nor do you need a skate stiffened for maximum performance under that sort of stress.

Buy some SEBAs or a similar high performance street skate.

Super- if you order from inlinewarehouse you can send back the skate if you don't like the way it fits. But honestly, just for outdoor skating and no hard cuts or stops, I dint think you should get that nice of skates. Alot of the price of those skates come from the wheels, which you are going to replace. One tumble and the boot will get ripped up, which I learned by using my 25s outdoor. Look more at the rx:15s or 20s or the t6s. Save some money and buy a better set of outdoor wheels, such as hotshot outdoors. Just my opinion.

I used to wear hockey skates outdoors for general skating. I then picked up a set of SEBA's and honestly...get a pair if just skating is your thing. Super manaeoverable, well made and an amazing skate.

Save your money and invest in something built for the job.
