removing "+1" from a pair of pants

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of pro stock Nike pants that are an xl +1, the legs are just a bit too long and interfere with my stride. Does anyone have nay experience shortening pants? recommendations? I was thinking about taking the length out of the stretch material in and around the crotch/thigh...? Thanks!

You can remove the pads and cut off at the bottom the amount you want to shorten, then reinsert the pads and put a couple of stitches in to hold the pads up. You'll still have the nylon the same length, but it wont be hard like the pads so should reduce the interference.

I would think it would be easier to shorten at a seam near the top, instead of cutting pads and restitching the bottom.

After looking at the pants again I was thinking of removing the padded belt at the seem, sectioning the material, then attaching the belt and cutting new rivet holes for the upper. Thoughts?

I had thought about sending him an email but wasn't sure if that was a service he offered. I will contact him and go from there. Thanks for the info!

I did it myself with my Mission pants. The plastic was removable so I took it out and cut it to my preferred length, and then folded the bottom of the pants up an inch and sewed it together. Had them for about a year and no problem so far.
