Need Help Removing Runners from Tuuk LS2 - Solved!

Recommended Posts

My son recently got a new pair of Bauer X3.0. I had a new set of blades profiled by the folks at No Icing Sports and I am trying to install them in the holders (Tuuk LS2). Using a tuuk wrench/driver I removed the hex nuts, but the blades will not budge! I tried pulling with a set of pliers and taping on the bolt, but the steel won't move. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Grab the skate like around the tendon guard region and on a hard carpet strike the bottom of the tuuk on the carpet. Might have to do it a couple times.

Loosen the nut a little bit, use like a 6in extension on the socket and tap it with a mallet or push up against the wall, this should get the blade to start pushing out a bit, loosen the nut some more, and repeat. Eventually it'll work the blade free enough to either get a small flat head in between the top of the blade/bottom of the holder to wedge it completely free or it will be at that point easy enough to pull free.

----- just reread your post.... if you lean into it, it should pop out eventually, takes a bit of force...

A little bit of patience and elbow grease always does the trick. I use a pair of pliers with rubber ends to pull the back end first. Pushing the front of the steel towards the back on a carpet works well to loosen it up when the bolt is out. Once you get it down...it will be a breeze.
