New Skate Suggestions

I have RBK 8K skates now in a 9E. They almost fit well. The length is great, the width is great, heel lock is great. However, I fail the pencil test (I didn't know about it when I bought them). I assume this is why I get lace bite if I tie them up fairly tightly? Right now I tie the toe fairly tight, a bit looser just before the lace locks, and then tight from the lace locks up, otherwise my feet hurt until I loosen my skates.

Does this mean no RBK is going to fit me? What would you suggest as a starting point for something similar in fit to the RBK8k for everything except maybe a bit deeper? Or are custom RBKs the answer (can you even get custom RBKs with a deeper boot?) Obviously I'll need to try everything on first, but even a suggestion of something similar would be great. Thanks!

You may want to try on Bauer supremes. I know a few people who have made the switch and will never go back. They fit somewhat similar but I believe they have a bit more depth.

Supremes have more of an arch. Graf G75 or G9 are also options, as is the CCM U+. You may also want to try new RBKs, as there have been some changes.

I second the Supremes. Just got a pair of Supreme One/80's. First pair of Bauers I've had since my Vapor XXII's a few years back and I love the Supreme fit much better. ( slightly wider but still a snug fit ) Very close to the old CCM fit.

Thanks guys, I'll definitely start out looking at the Supremes (the One100 LE is gorgeous). Always wanted a pair of Grafs. I'm not a fan of the CCM U+ as far as looks, but who really cares about looks anyway (as long as its not those god awful ronald mcdonald "ovie" CCMs)
