Sport Traders had a hockey show at Puckmasters yesterday in Victoria BC. Reps from CCM/RBK, Warrior and Bauer were in attendance. I have never been to a trades show for hockey equipment. I had no idea what to expect. I was blown away when I was given everything and told to try it out on the ice... I mean they gave me skates, gloves and a helmet from any brand that I wanted and told me to go nuts... I told my wife I was going to be an hour, I stayed the full three...

Big winners: Warrior gloves and "The Widow" stick opened my eyes. I never really looked at Warrior before but that all changed after the show. Big moment for me: I'm looking at a Warrior stick and the rep comes to me and offers to cut the stick down for me... I was like "Are you serious?" he said "That is what we are here for" he then proceeds to cut 2.5 inches from the stick, tape it up and hand it to me. It wasn't a cheap stick either, it was a $269 Widow... I had to quickly wipe the tear from my eye... they had the Dynasty stick there as well.

Some quick notes:

-loved the Bauer One stick as well as "The Widow". Best shots from "The Widow" best all around "Total One". I come from a SE16/EQ50 background (love them) so take that for what it is worth.

-If you like Eagle gloves you will like Warrior gloves.

-The EQ50 glove was a tank, not a big fan.

-The new Oveckin curve is nuts but in the right hands it could be a weapon. If you like to dangle this might be the curve for you. Also Oveckin uses a 79 flex in real life.

-CCM top end gloves were nice as well. Not very flashy, just a glove that you will not notice that you have on, which is a good thing.

-The EQ50 stick will stay for one more year, then they will be going back to a more "pro stock SE16", so no window etc.

-11K CCM skates fit great for me out of the box. This was surprising given my problem with the skates I have now.

Or go to MSH SummerJam and get the same experience, but on real ice. ;-)

They had a small ice rink there they use for 3 on 3 leagues and training etc. So you would just grab equipment and go on the ice etc. It was very cool.

The warrior glove reminded me of my Eagles PPF's. I can't think of the glove off the top of my head at the moment:)
