Give the "C" to someone else...after today's game it's become so obvious that Ovechkin's heart is not in it.

He spent half the game covering the point for defensemen carrying the puck into the zone. He had a couple bad shifts but overall, he actually played a pretty sound game considering the fact that he isn't skating with anyone that can make plays on a regular basis. The other issue is that the system that they are running under Hunter is not one that fits the team very well, much like the system Boudreau was using. This is not a team built for passive forechecking and waiting for the other team to turn it over in the neutral zone.

When you look at Captains of successful teams — Chara, Lidstrom, Callahan (this season obviously), Crosby etc., these are all guys that lead their team by example every night that they're on the ice. Ovechkin doesn't exactly exude the qualities that the captains I mentioned do. Just look at the 24/7 series Pens vs Caps.

Anyone hear if George Mcphee and the Caps are going to make some moves?? They need something.

They just don't have any kind of spark right now.

Some teams can go through a real funk leading up to the trade deadline as guys wonder if they could be moving on, especially when a team isn't playing at expected levels.
