Converting APXs to inline.

Recommended Posts

I snagged a pair of APX skates for $600, and I want to convert it to inline. I have a spare Mission chassis that I can put on it. Has anyone had any problems with mounting it on this skate?

*For those who are going to tell me to keep it for ice, I don't want to because I don't play travel ice, and I play travel roller. My x:40s will do me justice for an Adult league.

If your using a vanguard magnesium frame, the mount is very close to the inside edges of the outsole in some places. I filled the middle of the outsoles where they cut the outsole out with epoxy to help reinforce it.

Nice! I have some Easton's I am mounting with a Vangaurd mag frame that have that issue. Hopefully the epoxy will take care of it.

I took my skates to Rollin' Ice last night, and they said they were concerned with all the mini vent holes on the bottom of the skates, because if they drilled it, the integrity of the outsole would be ruined. I took it to a different shop across Sharks Ice and they said they'll try to do them.. hopefully they can figure out a way.

I recently converted One90's to roller. They too have the vent holes in the sole. Get the holders off (you can do this yourself, its easy) then use epoxy or fibreglass to fill the holes. Then get the frames mounted. There's already been guys who've converted APX's, it can be done so don't sweat it :)

My LHS said it was no problem to convert them, and they should be done tomorrow! I'll post pics when they're done. He didn't want to ruin the integrity of the boot by bending it to fit the chassis, so he's going to put a shimmy in the heel.
