Going from iginla curve to sakic curve.

Recommended Posts

i Have a datsyuk o-stick from RBK and i absolutely hate it compared to my iginla, theres too much rocker and its hard for me to stickhandle since i keep it pretty far from my body. Will i have the same problem with the sakic? the iginla and the sakic both have the same lie.

In my opinion and from what I have seen, the iginla is pretty flat as far as rocker goes. My main experience i with the bauer p92 and I believe as far as rocker goes, it is almost identical to the Sakic. The rocker to me is consistent, but intense compared to a curve like a pm9, heatley, or iginla. Maybe you should try the p88?

What are you looking for as far as the curve switch goes?

Im looking for a flatter (my iggy gives my fluttery wrist shots) and more accurate wrist shot, the iginla is pretty basic as far as a curve goes so im looking for a better blade for shooting basically.

It is all in technique. What about trying team mates sticks out?

I can get flat wrist shots with the p91a as well as with the p92. It took a while to get them with the p91a though. What stick are you using? Flex? How big are you? How old are you? How long have you been playing?

The increased blade length could help by giving you more contact time with the puck which could put more spin on the puck causing it to flutter less, if your shooting technique works with the blade pattern to begin with. It's really dependent on technique though.

Actually it was regarding his shot. I really messed that up Haha. But regards to a flatter wrister, just work on proper technique. You should be able to saucer your shots with any curves. Though, the openness of the Sakic may help. It does have a huge rocker. Check out the Bauer p88 curve.

I see what you were saying, but my comment was about the OP's flatter comment. I think he wants a flatter rocker with. Either way I think the P88 would be a good one for what the OP is looking for. Even better an Original Coffey curve!

Stick handling between the two curves won't be that different as long as you have good technique. You might even find the Sakic more to your liking with a deeper curve to cup the puck on the forehand.

As to your fluttery wrist shots, they flutter because of where the puck is releasing from the blade ie the puck isn't spinning along the blade to release off the toe. Doesn't matter what curve you use, accuracy and technique only come from practice. Your better off buying yourself a shooting mat, 20+ pucks and some garden netting and then wristing 200+ shots a day at home for the next 2 months.

By a "flatter" shot, you mean you're looking for more spin on it, as well as more accuracy. A "better blade for shooting"?

There's no such thing. Sound like what you need is simply more practice because a blade change won't accomplish either two of those for you.

I found that the p88 had a better shot than the iggy, a little longer blade with a bit more curve. Might be worth trying over the sakic which will be a pretty dramatic difference, p88 is still pretty neutral and the puck won't sail so easily.
