How to defend 2 on 1

Recommended Posts

BTW... I think it used to be more perfect than it is now. I hate that they took away the check from a defensman on a player who is dumping the puck in around him and took away the ability for a defensman to keep the forechecker off his partner... Oh well, got to have those high scoring games I guess.

 I can't believe I did that. I must have been wearing a loaf of bread for a hat. And speaking of Ryan Miller, check out this windmill glove-save...

There's always an association, such as in Cockney rhyming slang, "loaf of bread" for head. Up until that point, you were sounding educated.

Ah, faint and fleeting illusions. I even appear ethical in the right tie, and trustworthy if my shoes are scuffed just right.

A movie that takes the hat-trick to a new level. And we could one o' them self-diagramming books to teach defensive coverages.

Rule of thumb is to split the two to prevent the pass. Goalie should be prepared to cover the shot, D covers the pass. D must keep in mind not to obstruct the goalie's line of sight to the shot.

One move I worked on in college was a two-pad stack kind of slide. When your position is just right so that the puck carrier can't cut back to the middle and he would have to go too deep to try to go around you and get in on goal, you slide, but slide on your side, with your legs stacked like a goalie doing a two-pad stack. This accomplishes taking away the passing lane like the basic slide, but it also take away the saucer pass unless he can manage to make a pass that gets 2 feet off the ice and then back down in a 10-15 foot space.
