Warrior Franchise, Bonafide or Koncept Shin Pads

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know the real differences among the Warrior Franchise, Bonafide and Koncept Shin Pads? Looking for best direct impact protection, without great bulk or weight.

Also considering the new Easton RS, which seems to be the replacement for the S19.

I have a pair of the franchise shin pads..

the good: they are not bulky or that heavy and very comfortable.. the airflow through out the leg is nice and noticeable while playing. love the silver shield lining. the straping system is nice. shin protection is decent.

the bad: the protection in the knee area is horrible and almost non existent. the shape is flat and square instead of round and my knees are black and blue after almost every game. even going down on one knee for a one-timer is painful.. the quality in the stitching is terrible. after 2 weeks they were falling apart at the knee joints where the lining meets the plastic..

I have since switched back to my old reebok 7k's. wanted to really like the Franchise pads but ultimately the protection just isn't there not even for mens league.

Ufeel, I too have the Franchise shin pads. As far as your knee problems, I'm wondering did you try adjusting the pads?

I had the same problem the first time I used them and even thought about trying to sell them to get something different, but I thought I would give them one more chance. I adjusted the pad to a different position that felt great on my knee. Since this, I have not had the same problem again and would argue that they are the best shins I have ever owned (7k, Quest 2, one90 - all retail), compared to other higher end pads I've had in the past.

Would have emailed Warrior about the stitching problem. Not sure if there is anything they could do, but it would be worth a shot. I've had mine for about 3-4 weeks now and they still look new besides the logos coming off, which is expected.

does anyone know if the Franchises are more narrow than the other models? my Hustlers are starting to give out after 2 years so I'm looking to replace. don't neccessarily need the top of the line but definitely want a more narrow bad especially towards the bottom.

Franchises are pretty chunky.

Franchises and Bonafides are a bit wider, more "protective" you could say, where as the Projekt and Koncepts are a slimmer, light weight models. A lot of places have Prokekts on sale for really good prices and a lot of people seem to love them.

I have the Koncepts. I like them better than the TO shins. More knee protection and less bulky IMO. I even have bursitis in my knee.

I believe the Franchise replaced the Hustlers although depending on the size you need a few shops have Hustler shins on clearance now for $60.
