Pro Series Gloves - Help me understand

Recommended Posts

I don't have much practical experience with Pro Series gloves by the various manufacturers, but if I understand correctly, among their key benefits are protection and light weight. At the same time, their price points tend to be much lower than the high end gloves by the same manufacturers. So, what's different about these lines of gloves that allows them to come in at lower price points? Thanks.

I know with Warrior their Pro Series gloves are made in China rather than Canada. the fit seems to be tighter and materials a lower quality. for the money though they're a good deal, imo.

Huge differene between Warrior's "pro" series an "pro stock" gloves.

Pro stock - real pro stock - runs the gamut in modifications but mostly the padding is upgraded, the palms are simpler and softer (materials vary but think nash) and the gussets might differ too.

Prices will vary but to say they are lower priced is not accurate.

On the other hand, you may see a line of gloves marketed as pro models but they are really just modified retail. Usually a different palm.

Yeah, I'm talking about the pro series, not pro stock. I've seen them in Warrior, Eagle, Easton, and Reebok. I guess SMU more or less explains the position in the market - offer something not quite available elsewhere (though Easton's EPro and EQPro seem broadly available). Nonetheless, they generally seem like nice gloves, but at that much lower price point ($90-110) relative to the top-end models. So, does China vs Canada and [slightly?] lower quality materials explain the difference?

Has anybody had both pro series and top-end retail from the same manufacturer who can compare?

The use of the term "pro" in this case is only a marketing choice - merely a name. It could be something different in every brand that chooses to use the word pro. You really cannot compare manufacturer to manufacturer.

One of the big factors in Pro Stock vs Pro Series Warrior has released is anything but "Pro"

Their Fubar series Pro Series had an awful feel and the palms were rubbish.

Bauer Pro series are decent, but I still hate their gimmicky palms.
