Skate blade tightening

Recommended Posts

I got a pair of Graf skates as a heck of a deal through a LHS. They were a few years old and new; he had to get rid of inventory so I got a deal. Anyway, the skates Ultra G5s, have an screw on the end of the runner which is to tighter the blade (I hope I am using the right terms). The skate runner and blade are Ultra 5000s. Anyway, the screw is a bit loose. Should it be tight? If I tighten it with a screwdriver, should I go until it's tight or leave it loose. If I should tighten, should I really torque down on it and get it snug or just go "finger tight." (it's with a screwdriver but you get the idea). Thanks

Andy

Yeah you definately want that screw to be tight. Don't tighten it to the point where you'd crack the holder, but you for sure don't want that screw loose. I let mine go for a couple months without checking it and the screw fell out during a game. Bad stuff can happen if that screw falls out.

So basically finger tight. Okay. Thanks. I was worried that if I tightened too hard, it might affect the balance or perhaps bend or warp the blade or the runner. Never had skates that have this feature. Thanks again.
