Cross Grinding

When do you want or need your skates cross ground? Theere is a guy that say's to cross grind everytime you sharpen your skates. Is it really necessary or just taking off extra stee? Not sure if he knows what he is doing.

you really only need to cross grind when ur steel has a lot of chips or just really beat up and also if the blade is unbalanced

Most common times to crossgrind:

1. skates are new and haven't been sharpened yet

2. they are very rusty

3. there's a deep chip on the steel (from stepping on something)

4. the previous sharpening job was autrocious (coin-op machine or clueless tech)
