Palmsaver or repalm?

Recommended Posts

One of the fingers on my gloves is really wore down/huge hole creating a nice sore on my finger that hurts and bleeds everytime I play. I couple of questions:

1-Has anyone tried these, and are they any good? http://thepalmsaver.com/home

2-Does anyone know of a place that I can get my gloves repalmed near Grand Rapids, MI?

My local Peranis can send them out for $65, but it seems like there would be a cheaper way.

I really like my gloves and would rather re-palm than buy a new pair. They are Easton EQ5's.

Palmsaver seems like one of those ideas where you say "why the heck didn't I think of that?!?!" simple idea, but it looks like it may be a real easy to mess up putting on, though. Seems like if you had holes in the palm you are covering with it, that your hand would end up sticking to the adheasive backing of the palmsaver through the holes, no? **I've never used or even seen the product, so if anybody with experience with it can chime in, that would be awesome- I'm interestedin perhaps trying them myself***

When I saw the Palmsaver, it reminded me of a heavy duty moleskin. I have some Easton S5 gloves and I have a small hole in the black nash but the underlying palm is ok. I've put a patch of mole-skin over it w/o any issue. Once the palms go on these gloves, I'm upgrading to new gloves.

Interesting product! I wonder if they'll be able to get pro shops to sell these kits locally. Shops that do repairs on site will obviously avoid them but this could be a good alternative for shops that farm out their repair services. At the very least, it gives customers anothercost effective option.

I'm intrigued. my palm is only wore out in like a strip down the pinky where the knob of my stick is normally at, seems like i could use this to just patch that one area even. Good idea at least, anyone have experience with it?

A year ago I used the palm saver on a glove that was really bad. its still going strong. as long as you follow the directions you shouldnt have a problem putting it on. the new palm is very durable and I have not had any trouble with it.

I realize this is an old topic...

I used palmsaver and it worked out well for a $12 repair. That being said a year later or two later, playing once or twice a week I'm ready for a second repalm with them. I had used a full palm on my glove. In hindsite, I should of only used the palm and not the fingers. My fingers were fine and the extra layer of the patch on the full glove makes it hot. I had a hard time getting the edges to stick so I threw a few stitches around the edges. The gloves have survived a washing or two as well.

They include some extra patch material that I was able to use on my son's thumb. I also patched up a worn spot in my skate heel lining.

Hmm, that's not a bad idea as an alternative use. I've been wondering what I could use to cover a hole in the boot lining and that would be durable / resistant to sweat and these might just be the perfect thing. In fact if they are flexible and sweat resistant and adhere well then they become just about the perfect use anywhere patch material.
