Loose blade on a one piece?!

Recommended Posts

I have an older Warrior Dolomite one piece stick that I use and love. This stick still looks new for some reason. I recently noticed that it was making a weird sound. Yesterday I realized that if I shake the stick I can feel and hear the blade moving in the shaft. Is there any way I can fix this??? Or am I screwed and need to drop a bunch of money on a new stick?? I've never had this happen before.

Heat the shaft and pull it out, then put some hot melt glue on it and put it back in. Just like a two piece stick.

Maybe it's just a piece of plastic/glue/material inside the shaft that's rattling. You could try removing the butt-end, flipping the stick upside down and shaking or tapping it on the ground to dislodge whatever is inside. Then replace the butt-end and you're good to go.

unfortunately i think you may have to get a new stick, i have never heard of a one piece stick having a loose blade but if thats the case then it means its broken

Dolomites have a fused blade, they are essentially a two piece stick with the blade epoxied in place instead of glued. There are a number of people on the site that have heated the shafts and pulled blades out of them in the past without problem.

I'm one of the person that has pulled out the blade. I just heated it up over the stove and just pulled it out with a friend.

If you have trouble pulling it out, you can also try tapping it out with anything that you can feed down the shaft (from the butt end). Rebar works great for this, I've done it in the past for 2-piece sticks when the blade is really, really stuck in place, and cannot be removed through pulling.
