APX Pants or APX Core Pad?

Recommended Posts

I am torn between whether or not to get the pants or the core pad.

My biggest deciding factor is durability My warrior hit man pants ripped completely in the crotch area from my normal skating motion.

I was leaning toward the core pad because there is no material to rip in the crotch area, the only thing that would rip would be the shell, if anything.

Any way, any input from you guys would be great. My legs are kind of big and so I think that may have contributed to the ripping of my Hitman pants.

Lastly,

I would be open to the TotalOne pants or core pad, it just depends which Bauer line has looser fitting legs. I am not sure about the fit of the APX compared to the TotalOne.

Thanks

this link is very helpful: http://www.icewarehouse.com/catpage.html?ccode=HSRIPBAUER

i owned the one95 girdle and while its very mobile you can still feel it if you get hit hard enough since its so tight. it also lacks protection of a regular pant and i was feeling it in certain areas. i recently bought the total one pants looking for more protection and i coudln't be happier. i was worried that i would notice the extra bulk, but i can honestly say that i haven't. i do not notice them whatsoever when i have them on, and with the added protection the pants were a great value for me. i would highly recommend them.

icewarehouse usually does reviews on top of the line product and this can also help.

the apx will be similar to the x60, and possibly the exact same. i know the one95 girdle is the same as the total one girdle.

last hockeymonkey usually has a good sample of reviews on items that i browse for product i looking at, and this can be helpful if there are enough reviews.

it limited my media posts so here are the other two items

I have the X:60s which are basically last year's version of the APX. They are extremely comfortable and the nylon areas are very sturdy. I have some reservations about how well the lycra mesh areas would stand up to a skate blade, but the mesh is pretty thick so I don't think normal wear and tear would be a problem. If I were designing them I might have not used SO MUCH lycra mesh on a $150 pant but they are extremely comfortable. I'm pretty sure the Vapor line is the looser fitting of the two, it definitely seemed that way when I tried them on.

if you take a look at the IW link, the total one pant is tight up top then gets looser as the pant goes on. the apx is tight as it goes on. ive also heard the x60 has a forward lean to it and the iw link shows that

heres the pic from the iw link

Thanks for all the info guys!

I guess my last question I have is I wonder if it would be better to get the girdle/shell combo so i could just replace the shell when it rips.

To be honest Im not very concerned with top level protection because I play C level beer league hockey

the total one girdle would probably work well for you, the shell doesnt really rip unless some disaster happens. i had a shell that i used on and off but pretty regularly for 5 years and it just went bad.

One more question for everyone, I am set on a girdle. I will decide between either the Vapor Apx or TotalOne girdle. I see the chart above and how the APX and TotalOne PANTS differ, I just wonder if there is any real difference between the APX and TotalOne girdles....besides the fact that the TotalOne girdle opens up all the way in front and the APX does not. I cant imagine how two girdles would fit drastically different.

The Vapor isn't a traditional "girdle." It is more of a pant in that regard with adjustable legs. The Supreme's design goes back 10 years (as a wrap girdle) and 30 in its basic form.

I have one of the Bauer earlier models of girdle and before that I was using Cooper. My son is using the X60. If you're in beer league and not worried about high level protection the TotalOne has an additional benefit. I like the ability to tie your skates then putting the girdle and shell on. Seems like a minor thing but I really don't like tying my skates with my pants on.
