Looking for Equivalent Shaft

Recommended Posts

I am currently using Lousiville TPS Red Lite CS2 Kevlar shaft.

(Extra Lite/ 275 GMS (GMS=grams??), colour of the shaft is Greenish-Brown)

I think the stiff is 120 LBS

Is this number equalt to Easton or Bauer Stiff #???

Can some one tell me equivalent shaft is?

That particular RedLite version was basically TPS' version of Easton's UltraLite shaft. Simply a standard shaft with a non-engineered mid kickpoint that had graphite construction with an overlying kevlar aramid layer on top. Despite the 275 gram claimed weight, they were around the 330+ range (back when every manufacturer was claiming 275-285 grams for every shaft).

Pick any standard (non-tapered) shaft now and you have pretty much the same thing. Because TPS was bought out, their products are quite hard to find now, but you can still occasionally find UltraLites on Ebay and Craigslist. More modern shafts that have nearly the same exact design are the Easton M5 shafts or Bauer's Total One shaft. Shafts no longer in production, but that still be found sometimes are Easton's ST shaft, Bauer's One95 shaft, or Warrior's AK27 shaft.

As for the flex rating, TPS used non-standard ratings that didn't directly compare to other companies' 85/100/110 flexes of that time. Their Stiff flex was roughly a 105, so look into 100 flexes from other companies.

Scotty's dead-on, as usual. I'm a big fan of the older TPS stuff. The Red Lite XN10 is my favorite standard shaft ever. When I wasn't able to find any for a while, I used Warrior AK27 shafts and liked them a lot.

Back in my younger days, I used the 145 flex on the Tricore and Rubber shafts and I'm pretty sure that was their "Stiff" flex. I just did a google search and somebody was selling a Tricore at 145 flex and billing it as Stiff.

That was why I did the search. After having a guy skate thru my chin last month and then going forehead into the elbow of the net on Tuesday, I needed to be sure my memory was correct. Now if I could only remember my address.
