Bauer 5100 mask Vs. RE AKT

Recommended Posts

Does ANYONE have any personal experience with this comparison? My 5100 is kinda annoying weight and view restricted speaking...

I've read that the AKT is ALOT better in BOTH aspects. Before I pull the trigger on this rather expensive upgrade, i'd like to confirm that it's gonna be a difference I'm gonna be happy with.

Thanks..

In regards to both weight and visibility, The RE-AKT will be noticeably better than your 5100. More so with weight than visibility, in my opinion, but better for both.

Get a ccm fm480 cage. Its cheap at around 35$ and you cant go wrong. Its light weight, great visability, and the best looking cage out there.

The 480 is a nice cage, arguably a better value than the RE-AKT (half the price, but more than half as good) cage..but it's nowhere near as light as the RE-AKT, I'd argue the Bauer has better visibility, and looks are subjective.

Looking into the CCM 480... BUT, will the Medium size I need be about the same as my 5100? which fits pretty well on my Easton S19 helmet?

Medium RE-AKT will fit on a medium E-700. Not too sure about the differences between the E-700 and the S19. For the record it is insanely light.

Let us know what you think of the re-akt, im interested to hear what you think of the cage.

I am pretty sure he is going to love it considering what he is coming from. It is going to be significantly lighter than his old one, and probably a bit better vision.

I am coming from a 9900, and even then the weight different with each in hand can be felt. The bars on the Re-AKT are a little wider (still oval design), but it was not noticeable once it was on. Because the cage is a bit longer, I did have a hard time adjusting the J clips and cage straps so the chin cup was close enough to my chin but also have the J clips low enough where they would engaged with the cage when strapped.

Edit: Medium 9900, Medium Reebok 6K Helmet, Medium Re-AKT Cage.

Hmmm. I was unaware that the AKT was in fact longer than the 5100.. The way the 5100 sets up/j clips..it's perfect. Maybe the chin cup could be raised for optimal fit. We shall see!

YIKES! This cage is certainly leaps and bounds above my 5100..

For starters the lightweight cage combined with the Easton S19 is insane. Great fit on the helmet, and the chin cup is comfortable too, even after a few days beard growth.. What really sets this cage apart from my old one is it's visibility. I can see better from the sides, and as weird as this sounds, the cage seems to "disappear" during gameplay. My old one always impeded view, even though it was ever so slight, the RE AKT does it's own vanishing act. Anyone looking to upgrade their cage should consider the RE AKT. I know it's pricey, but the advantage in vision, comfort and weight is worth it! Played last night for the first time with it, and definately felt like I spent my money in the right place...

I had a 5100 L cage on my 4500XL helmet and now have a Re-akt L cage. It is longer and also quite a bit wider, had to bend the new clips out so the cage goes in. I still need to guide the cage into the clips but it works, just can't fasten it as quickly as I could with the old cage.

As others have said, it is noticeably lighter and vision is improved. The chin cup is a huge improvement over the one on the 5100.
