Hockey Pants for Tall Peeps

Recommended Posts

I did some searching back and saw that Bauer offered tall sizes a few years ago, but all I see today is custom Warrior pants. Those are out of my price range as these will be my first pair since I just decided to take up the game at 40. I'm 6'3" and about 235-240lbs. My waist runs 36"-37". Looking at size charts it seems Eastons in an XL would be a good fit. My LHS carries both Easton and Bauer, but the Bauer waist sizes seem too big in size XL. I was thinking I would need XL due to my height. I can try both of those on, but are any other brands or lines more suited to taller players? I was looking in the price range of Easton 55S or 65S.

Thanks

Drew

Agreed. And you can find them in +1" in the leg. I have the same problem.

Bauer One80 comes in a tall, Easton S13 and its replacement the 85s. Warrior Projekt. Tackla has few models. Also if the waist is a bit big to get the length you want just use suspenders.

Thansk for all the replies. Any major difference between the tall One80 and the S13. Will the tall version of the One80 be that much longer than the S13? I have no chance of trying on a tall version. For $35 more, are the Bauer's worth it? Like I said I'm just starting, and doubt I will be buyng another pair or upgrading anytime soon. I'm willing to put out for the tall one80 if they are going to be a better fit.

Thanks

Drew

I bought a pair of XL One 80's to get the length but the waist was huge. Then I happened upon a pair of the S13's in L which fit great in the waist and seemed longer than my XL One 80's so I would guess the S13's in +1" would be longer than the tall One 80's (although the tall version could be +1 1/2 " of which I am not sure)

@jds Thanks, what size is your waist in regular pants. I am only seeing the S13 available in standard XL size. No where am I seeing +1 anywhere.

Thanks

I take about a 34 waist which would put me in a large Bauer pant but for the extra length I went with XL and then just used suspenders to keep them up. Worked pretty good but still not as long as I would prefer. The S13 comes in a "long" version but I just did a quick search and see that the online sites don't have any left in sizes L. They are on clearance so I would guess whatever stock is left is all there is. You could look at the Reebok 9k pant which had a zipper near the waist that when unzipped caused the pants to lengthen by about 1". I ended up giving up and just going with a girdle and a XL padded shell (actually a prostock lower) that I had taken in a bit and now have tons of length without looking like I'm wearing jodhpurs.

Tackla offers long/short inseams as on option on some models as well.

There are a few threads on this topic, but the Tackla long pants have plenty of length. The 2440 is a cheaper model that comes in tall and I found a few around $100 searching quickly.

Didn't Vaughn buy Tackla and Eagle and now only sell pants in North America under the Eagle brand? Looking at the 2012 Eagle catalog, they offer all of their pants in custom lengths.

Thanks for the replies in this thread. I tried on the Easton's at the LHS and they were fine without the added length. I did end up ordering the S13's on clearance, but I still spent some money in the shop so I wasn't one of those guys.

Thanks again!

No, Montreal owns/distributes Tackla in N. America and its still sold under the Tackla name.

I noticed yesterday while looking online for the new Warrior Projekt pants that they are offered in a tall size for the M, L and XL. From thehockeyshop.com "Long pants are constructed with an additional 2 inches of length in the leg"
