Skates: Feelin the rivets

Recommended Posts

I've had my Mission T7s for a couple of years. They've been great for me. Recently, I've been feeling the rivets under the balls of my feet on the right skate. Just curious if any one knows why this is happening? Is the outsole starting to give out? Is it possible to get "flatter" rivets? Is this a sign that I need new skates?

Thanks in advance.....

In addition to the comment above, some time my rivets rust/break/change shape and cause problems. You may need a rivet or two to be re-shot. Good luck.

Either the insole is getting old and flat (more likely) or the rivets are a bit loose. Or both.

It is probably either the footbeds are shot or the rivet has changed shape a little bit. From a footbed standpoint you could get new footbeds or cut out a piece of that thin cardboard that’s at the bottom of a paper tablet and put it underneath the footbed. From a rivet standpoint you could get them re-revited. Copper rivets are flat, so you could go that way if you wanted. Before going the rivet route, I would follow the advice that Jamie_tnt gave and check how the rivets of both skates compare as well as the undersides of both footbeds.
