I agree for the most part, but I would rather take a wrist shot with a stick that is too stiff than a slapshot with one. At least with the wrist shot, you can whip the puck with quick hands. Not loading on a slapper just kills your shot and usually hurts.

If you're using a stick that is too stiff to take a slap shot with, you've got the wrong stick period. Personally, I think the slap shot is overrated...and my one-timer is better with about the same flex that my wrist/snap shot are good at. If I'm playing the point, I'd rather take a hard wrist shot than a slap shot because I'm more accurate.

Basically, my advice is either go up one flex rating(if you REALLY want to improve JUST your slap shot) or leave it as is(and be more well-rounded of a player).

I don't disagree with you on any of that. I'm just saying that if I have to play with a 110 or 120 for some reason, I'm not even going to bother with anything other than a wrist shot. While with a lighter flex I can slow down the motion and still get off an effective slapper, though obviously not at maximum velocity. For wristers, my ideal flex is an 85 or so and it's more of a 90-95 for slappers.

Update: Noticed my shots were fluttering with the kopitar curve.

I went back to the P88 in a 60 flex and have been super happy with it.

Thanks to everyone for their help!

I have an APX one piece with the P88 and an APX shaft with a tapered Kopitar blade, and I find the Kopitar blade to be the same. Cannot shoot well with it at all. I guess it is personal preference, as some love it, but I agree with you on this one. Flutter city.

I'm guessing (I could be way off) it's because I shoot more mid blade than off the toe.

i had a p88 67 flex supreme i absolutely loved. i went to a vapor 60 p14 60 flex and i hated it for the first two weeks i couldn't shoot at all. but i got used to it i love it. you can buy as many sticks as you want but practice with it is the only way to get better

Another update:

I bought a 55 flex Kopitar curve Dynasty AX1. This is the best stick I have ever used. I noticed I did cut it down a little farther than what I normally do. It helps a lot with the flutter and I notice working on my technique has helped as well. LOVE the Dynasty AX1!!
