Looking For Opinions On Girdles

Recommended Posts

I just took the plunge and bought a warrior projekt girdle. ive used it for one pickup game and will be using it tonight for a league game. i love it. snug fitting, extremely light, and easy to move it. some of the light thin foams (above the kidney pad, inner thigh, upper thigh) are removeable if you want really want to trim it down. it seems to be well made, and the stock belt works great for me even though some people say it is short. i was advised to buy an xl warrior syko shell for the xl girdle, but i have sent it back for a large since it was massive around the waist. i hope the large fits better, but for now i am just using a pair of xl champion rugby shorts over top and they fit perfectly.

Anyone know what the sizing is on 9k girdle? Some say medium is 33-36, some say 32-34. I find size people wear is all over the map. Did reebok change sizing from their "RBK" days to the "REEBOK" branded girdles? I read people in mediums that are all kinds of weights and waste sizes. I am 5'11" 180-185 and wear a 34 waist in pants. I bought a medium and large newer "reebok" branded girdles. Medium seems too small in some ways, and large seems too big in some ways. Can anyone weigh in on this?

I bought a brand new medium "RBK" 9K girdle recently and it's small on me. I've always worn a medium in every pair of pants I've owned, most recently a CCM Vector Pro girdle.

I have a question (need some advice) on the CCM Vector Pro girdle. My local LHS doesn't stock them so for me to try one I'd have to pay full retail for them to get one in. Without trying a couple first I didn't want to do that yet, so I purchased one from a MSH'er (thanks again, they are in great shape).

Here is my issue that I'm hoping for advice on. I think I know the answer but want to make sure.

Normally, I wear a medium in regular pants to get the correct pant length. I'm pretty skinny, but haven't had a problem finding a pant that I can get tight enough without requiring suspenders. With the girdle I can get the legs the way I want and the belt just about tight enough. However, it still feels a little loose at the bottom/small of my back. Does that make sense? Around the kidney/hip area they feel a tad loose and I feel if they had a lace system I could synch that up no problem. I think part of this is because they are used and probably have opened up there a little. Would suspenders fix this problem or is there a way I could rig a lace system to synch that area tighter?

I know there are some gear heads on here so hoping someone has an idea that would work. I'm sure if I spent some time I could install something, but wanted some others oppinions first. Thanks guys.

Okay, I know my post was just yesterday but I figured I'd toss in a quick fix I stumbled upon at last nights game.

So I get to the rink and realize I forgot my shell (and my skate socks to top it off). I've been using a Sr Med CCM shell to go along with the size M CCM Vector Girdle. Normally, I have to synch down the shell as tight as I can get it and it still fits loose over the girdle. Not having used a girdle/shell setup before I figured this was normal. Anyways, I ran into the pro shop that is at the rink and asked them if they had any extra shells. All they had were JR shells in small, med, and large. I held up the large to myself and it looked like they would be my best bet for length. Was worried about the waist even though I'm skinny because the girdle is a Sr Med.

Well, turns out the Jr large fit over the girdle and ended up form fitting so they looked like normal pants. I'm going to give the Jr shell another try tomorrow and go with it. The cool thing about the such snug fit is that the belt of shell helps snug up girdle. Realistically, not the greatest fix and I would still like to look into installing a lace system somehow onto the girdle. But for now this little last minute experiment will work.

Why did you change from the easton girdle to the ccm? im not a big of the ccm pro girdle and i find it fits large and long, not sure it is the right choice for a skinny person. You should have maybe looked into the rbk 9k gridle, they fit tight ( i am currently using an one95 senior small and i could not get the 9k small past my knees)

The Easton girdle I was trying out was a Large and it was to big. It was to long and it never tightened down properly. It just felt like I was swimming in it. I went with the CCM because a MSH'er had one for sale so I wanted to try it out. I've only used it for 2 games but I like it. I need to use it for awhile to know whether I'm going to stick with it or not. I've never used a girdle before for ice so I didn't want to spend $80+ on something I may not stick with. So the CCM has been a nice test. I'm definitely sticking w/ a girdle, but will be making the change into something that fits a little better down the road. The legs are fine in length and tightness. They fit snug enough but don't feel tight which I like. The waist is my biggest problem. I typically range as a 30-33 waist size depending on pant type (jeans, slacks, etc), but have long legs so Sr Small pants typically are not long enough so I have to go w/ medium hockey pants.

The CCM will fit the bill for now and I've got it to work/fit the way I want. I was using Vapor X:30 pants prior to the girdle so padding isn't an issue. If anything the CCM is an upgrade at the hips and tailbone. My rec league just doesn't require much more padding then that. Definitely feeling like I can drop into a Sr Small girdle as long as I can get the length I like. The length of the CCM girdle is near perfect. . .it's just the waist is a bit big for me. I always watch eBay for used girdles and will definitely try a couple other brands before I settle. Again, my LHS does not carry any girdles so my only wait to try fit is buying used and re-selling what doesn't work.

Ok, I'll try to keep a lookout on ebay then. I've seen some pop up every now and again there. The positive reviews of the 9K I think will justify me spending the $$$ to give it a shot. And if anything, the rarity (and popularity) of them should allow me to get most my money back in re-sale if it doesn't work out. Appreciate the suggestion/feedback.

Personal opinion, I've played with the 9k rbk girdle for three years now. Nothing I've worn previously has come close to the protection and comfort. Hard to find these days, but keep your eye out on ebay and the forums.

+1 on the 9k RBK girdle.......has offered good protection so far, in all the right places!!!
