Bauer Vapor APX Pro or Retail?

Recommended Posts

Looking for some feedback if anyone has any.

My Eagle X70's are getting beat up and it's time for me to buy some new gloves.

Last night I skated with a new pair of Bauer Vapor APX retail gloves that somebody let me try out, and I came away very impressed. I wasn't sure if I would like them based on the fit and feel I was so used to with my Eagles, but overall I could see myself using them regularly.

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone here can offer any type of comparison between the retail and the Pro APX gloves. I've heard that the Pro model has a better palm with more feel, which is what I would prefer. My only gripe with the retail APX's was that the palm had a little less feel than I was used to with my Eagles. I'm wondering if the Pro model would provide that extra feel that I'm used to.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, guys!

Thanks!

APX pros have thinner, simpler palms. The cuff on them is also different, not as open as on the APX's but it doesn't affect the mobility that much.

Didn't realize the cuff was different. That was one of the things I liked about the retail model. It had a contoured aspect to it that allowed for a little more wrist movement without constantly hitting my elbow pad. The two most important aspects to a glove to me are the feel of the palm, and the upper wrist area not feeling too restricted.

Just to make sure, you 're inquiring about the "APX Pro", which is a retail model?

Yeah, I guess my words are a bit misleading. Both gloves are "retail." One is the regular APX and the other the APX Pro.
