Skate sizing issue - different meanings which Bauers is smallest/biggest. who's right?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I just got back on ice after 10 years break. When i played back then, i loved my bauer 3000 D skates. Last year i played i used CCM652 and they didnt fit my foot very well.

2-3 weeks ago i bought a pair of Bauer Supreme one.7's in D

I dont feel they fit my foot as the old bauer 3000's did. The heel is well locked, width feels ok but the volume in forefoot feels way to big. Can crunch my toes even after very hard tying.

Ive read arround on this forum, talked to a lot of people on different shops. Some say Supremes are narrower than vapors, some say the opposit. Some say the only difference is the stands.

On bauer.com the show 3 different footbed forms for the 3 series but i dont get an idea of the total volume or depth. I think my main problem is related to forefoot-depth/volume that doesnt feel like the old 3000s

Any idea what skates i should buy? I have low arch and foot is low profile

Sorry bad English, regards Norway

Go to a shop and get fitted. There's no way to suggest skates for you just out of the blue. Get whatever skates fit, ignore the logo on the outside.

My store only got one.7 D and vapor x.6 EE in stock + a few wide reebok/eastons. Everything else need to be ordered so my only option is to order a pair of skates by tips/advice.

So the ONE.7 is too wide in the forefoot?

when i unlice and open the tongue it looks like my foot is filling out OK (when i tried the bauer measure tool my width ended up between C and D. Its too much volume there, like there is alot of space in height (depth)

No, CCM and Reebok tend to be shallower in the forefoot than Bauer.

I find CCM to be on the deeper side and Reebok to be on the shallower side there.

For volume in the forefoot? Eyelets on down? Not width?

Still think CCM is less than Bauer in that aspect, but Reebok is the shallowest. The Reebok/CCM toecap height is shallow as well.

Just in the forefoot? I've had volume issues but I always thought RBK would be my best bet regarding that.

Agree with the toecap height and yes to the forefoot eyelets down. CCM and Supreme are close but I find CCM a bit deeper. Haven't fit enough Nexus yet to get a feel.

I also find that more recent Reebok skates from the 11K line till now have gotten deeper in all areas compared to years prior.

RBK is very shallow, not a good choice for people with volume issues. I only wore mine two or three times before I sold them.

huh. I tried on some Nexus, but they were too wide in the heel. I'm not sure where to go from here, to be honest.

My RBK doesn't hurt my feet anymore though, so maybe I'll just stick with them. They're definitely not deep enough, though. I fail the pencil test miserably.
