benjones 3 Report post Posted January 20, 2013 Hi,I have feet that are a whole size different. The right is a 9 and the left an 8. I live in the U.K and getting customs is difficult but not impossible. My question is that if I buy 2 pairs of skates, one of each size will the runners be of a different lengths to make skating uneven and imbalanced? If I go for customs could I get the runners the same size to avoid any imbalance? Are there any other modifications I could make to my current skates (graf F60 size 9) to accomodate the smaller left foot?Cheers,Ben
Chadd 916 Report post Posted January 20, 2013 Yes, the runners will be of different lengths and could be somewhat difficult to adapt to. If you are looking at higher level skates, one pair of customs may be less expensive.
benjones 3 Report post Posted January 20, 2013 Thanks Chadd, Yes I am going for high end skates. Would there be an option to put the smaller runner from the spare size 8 skate onto the size 9 boot or again would that make things unbalanced? Or get an 8.5 and live with the sore toes on the bigger feet and an ok but not perfect fit on the left skate? Otherwise it looks like a trip to Canada to finally get some customs...Thanks,Ben
JR Boucicaut 3810 Report post Posted January 20, 2013 If you do customs, you will put the size 9 holders on both boots to balance out.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted January 20, 2013 I would rather have two skates that fit properly than two that don't. I would go custom, not half a size off in each boot.
benjones 3 Report post Posted January 20, 2013 Yeah thats what I thought. Can anyone recommend a good shop for custom skates in either Toronto or Edmonton? Do they take a mould of your foot or is it just a case of working with a retail boot and adding custom features/sizing? Thanks Ben
