Question: Shin Guard Recommendation

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am looking to purchase some new shin guards as mine are now 16 years old and getting a little tatty. My problem is I don't like the bulkiness of a RBK type leg pad and all new leg pads seem to follow this shape.

I'm currently using Ferland J5000 Gold Series, which aren't very bulky at all and I was wondering if any of know of a similar shaped leg pad?

Thanks in advance for your help

i went from 11k's to vapor apx, and the vapors are significantly less bulky - my socks slide easily over the shins now, before had to stretch alot with the reeboks. protection is still good and the vapor liner has a gel like foam in it, similar to 11k's but not as dense, still very comfy.

I'm not working with a budget, happy to pay the extra for a quality shin guard that is non bulky, think I may go and try out the APX and the CL, see which ones fit better.

Thanks for the help guys

You might not want to go with a top of the line shin pad if you want something streamlined. I Bauer's strapping design on the Supreme and Vapor lines but I can never fit into their top end shins. They have too much padding, pushes my knee out of the pocket and it just feels very cumbersome even with a ton of sock tape. I always have to go one or two models down.

The Supreme is Bauer's anatomical fit and the Vapor is tapered, which narrows as you move down from the knee to the ankle. I prefer the Supreme fit but try them on for yourself and see which you are more comfortable with.
