ABS Composite Stick

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm looking for at getting an abs one-piece for dek hockey. I was looking at Hockey Monkey and the only two I saw that are listed as having ABS blades are the Sher-Wood T30 and Reebok 3K. But, I see a bunch of lower one-pieces sticks such as the EQ1 or the Vapor X2.0, they arent listed as ABS blades so I'm hesitant. Does anyone have a list of ABS sticks or can recomend what would be the best ABS stick?

With a composite shaft? The Alkali CA3 comes to mind. Few entry level composites have an ABS blade. The EQ10 and X2.0 do not.

Why not buy a composite shaft and have a 2 piece setup with maybe the CCM Crossover blades?

I really want to spend as little as possible on this stick. We aren't aloud to use wood sticks for dek. An ABS one-piece is 40-50$, buy the time I buy a shaft and the blade I'm looking at more than that. Really looking specificly for the ABS one-piece.

How long are you planning on playing Dek hockey for? If you are plan on playing for a long time, a shaft/blade combo may cost more initially but it'll be cheaper in the long run. If you wear down an ABS OPS, you'll have to spend another $40-$50 to buy a new one. If you spend $70-$80 initially on a shaft and blade combo, you'll only have to replace a blade, which could could cost you about $20.

Is it just the blade that isn't allowed to be wood or the shaft also? I use a RBK 2K blade in a composite shaft to play roller hockey with a ball and it's excellent. But you can get a 2K stick, too. I see that you're located in Montreal. Just go down to Rousseau Sports and check these out.

Word of caution: with the Easton abs blades I have had two that once the bottom gets a little wear, the sides delaminate and the blade just goes straight due to not having anything to keep the curve. This was due to playing on fairly rough surfaces but I thought I'd point it out anyways.

I've had that too with the Easton ABS blades. It doesn't happen with the RBK 2K blade though.
