If you need a wide skate....

Recommended Posts

After trying a couple pairs of Nexus, Supremes, and CCM U+CL skate I finally found a skate wide enough and instantly comfortable like the 16k. Best fit I've ever had out of the box at 7EE and after baking it, the skate was so well fit. The heel lock was perfect and the grip liner really kept my foot in place. I had no pain, no pressure points, or soreness during the first vigorous skate. The forefoot and toe area were plenty wide for my duck feet. The liner molds firmly and the pump is really not necessary after a good baking. But, it can be used for subtle differences in ankle size. Plus, the outsole was really responsive. It's not the stiffest skate on the market, but I was surprised by the quality energy transfer. Definitely designed for skaters who like a more traditional fit, and they aren't the lightest skates on the market, but it's hardly noticed on the ice. If you have a wider foot and are having some trouble with the other brands, I would highly recommend picking these up. Hope this helps some people out there.

It's not just about width, it's about having the width in the right places for your foot. That's why we always suggest trying on as many skates as you can to get the right fit.

Exactly.

I need a wider skate. Having progressed from supremes, to the ccm's, and had a pair of rbk 9k for a while. The 9k felt very good in the forefoot, but even with the pump were too wide in the heel. Finally settled in on a pair of Flexlites that match pretty closely to what i needed in width, depth, and heel.

I had the same experience as well. My feet are like triangles with medium/instep... Tried on Reebok, CCM, Bauer, and Easton. Settled on the 14k.. Great skate for the price, super comfy and snug, supportive fit. Its so nice to skate without pain :-)

When I upgraded from my $50 skates I did some research and went to a few local places to check out skates. I have really wide feet and had a hard time wearing certain brands of shoes growing up. I was looking to stick with Bauer, but was open to other brands.

From what I read I gathered that width on Bauer skates goes Nexus>Supreme>Vapor. An employee at one of the shops I went to said (after measuring my feet) that vapors were not going to be a good fit for my foot type. I tried on the Supremes but they were really uncomfortable, and I tried on the Nexus skates and they were really comfortable. I was sort of worried that the Nexus wasn't going to be stiff enough to provide the ankle support I'd need since I'm a bigger guy.

I went to a PureHockey store and the guy told me to try on a pair of Vapor X5.0s in 10.5(EE) and they fit perfectly. I had them baked up and have been skating with them for a few weeks now and they are great.

This just goes to show that you can't always go by what you read and the way a skate fits is going to vary from foot to foot.

Same here...Graf 735 to Supremes to Flexlites. Could not wear RBK, the heel was not right. Too wide.

I also went from RBK to Flexlites. The RBK heel was too wide unless I pumped it up real good. When the pump started leaking, I was screwed.
