metalwinger13 1 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 I recently purchased a pair of Nexus 400 7.5EE to eventually replace the skates I'm wearing now. The skates are One95s also in 7.5EE and have a runner of 272. The Nexus has 263's. I haven't wore the 400's yet.1) Is this normal to have a lower model not move up to the holder that it requires2) Should I contact the store and see what they say? Are you asking if lower end skates normally have smaller holders than higher end skates? No. It's just that the Nexus 400s are made for a smaller holder than the One95s. When I went from my CCM Pro Tacks to CCM U+, the holders went from 287 to 280. Just differently made skates.
metalwinger13 1 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 I was asking because from the sizing chart for the holders it stats that the size of the holder should be 272 for my size in skates. Just curious if it was a mix up of sorts. But if it is suppose to be like that than ill see how they do. Going down a size in holder/runners wont hurt skating will it? hockeymass 11 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 http://www.hockeymonkey.com/runners-holders-sizing-chart.htmlThat chart shows that the Lightspeed Pro in a 7.5E should be 263, as opposed to all the other holders, which would be 272. Not sure why that is. But the LS Pro is bottom of the barrel. The runners are not replaceable.
metalwinger13 1 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 The holders say lightspeed 2 on them.
hockeymass 11 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 Well that's weird because the Nexus 400 doesn't come with LS2 holders. Either way, the smaller holder probably isn't going to pose a problem. It might take you a couple skates to fully acclimate to them.
metalwinger13 1 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 Well the steel is the cheaper super stainless.
hockeymass 11 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 Does it come out?
metalwinger13 1 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 Yep it looks removable. I think I'm going to give the pro shop I go for sharpening and stuff a call tomorrow and see if they have step steel in that size and get that taken care of. The heel of the boot has a hole with a cap on it so you can get the blade swapped
jsykes 35 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 I'll take back what I said. It does still show in the 2013 catalog that the EE of the 1/2 sized skates should have the larger holder on it. So I guess What I stated was wrong. I'll have to pull some skates and look because I could have sworn that recently we've been replacing steel on half sized EEs with the same size steel as on the regulard widths. laserrobottime 149 Report post Posted March 11, 2013 This happened on my Flexlite 4.0 Pros, too. Expected a 306 LS2 on an 11.5EE (as that's what the catalog said they'd have, and vapors have had in the past), got a 296.
