Any problems with these skates? Recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Leaning more towards the Reeboks then as they have wheels that were recommended to me for smooth concrete. Gonna do some more searching but I guess its between the Missions and the Reeboks.

I have always had good luck with the Alkalis. Cant say anything about the CA5 but I have worn the Ca9 since it came out and now with the RPDs, only replaced the ca9s 1 time in between aihl seasons during the summer for narch/torhs. I like the brand but I guess not everybody feels the same.

I'd skip Tour & Reebok. Personally Tour skates never held up for me and broke down way too quickly. Reebok, I've seen way too many people end up with dented chassis in Reebok than probably any inline skate in my time.

I can't really speak on the Missions as I haven't used the brand in years.

In terms of the Alkali, I've been in the CA9 RPD for a few months (check out my Long Term Review), they pretty much look exactly like they did when I got them, brand spanking new.

I see it looks like you are trying to stay in the $200 Price Range, to be honest, I think spending the extra $40 on the Alkali CA5 wouldn't break the bank and would give you more bang for your buck in terms of skate performance. Thats if the Alkali is a good fit for your foot.

Otherwise, if you are trying to stay in the $200 price range I would say choose the boot that fits you best, with the chassis set up you prefer and go from there.

Tour boots never did it for me, just not a good fit but I agree with what you said with breaking down very fast. Like you said, Alkali makes a good product and I have been in either a CA9 or RPD for the last year and a half. Good guys over there in the office with Steve/Justin/Joe. If you have a problem they usually take care of you. I liked your LTR and felt the same thing with the first few skates but after that they are golden.

I wish there were some locals shops I could try skates on at. Such a hassle. The Alkali's seem to be a completely different style of skate compared to the others, heel is also narrow-med.

Do you have any opinions on the Inhaler AC5? Only skate nobody has mentioned as being bad.

Do you have a wheel set up that you like? All 80's or 80/76?

I have never played inline hockey. Played ice all my life and trying out inline for spring/summer. I should have mentioned that before hand :P. The main thing I want is support. I hate flimsy skates.

I cant really reccomend Tours, fit I never could get into and the boots break down quite fast. Mission and Bauer make very good product but I find myself in different brands because of wheel set ups and other reasons. I find that my Alkali boots are perfect for me. The frame runs all 80s so I have a much better top end speed and stopping is very easy. The 80's give you a bigger foot print so you have more wheel on the floor at any given time. I find the boot holds up very well and fits a wide range of skaters due to better heat and break in molding. And in my mind Labeda makes the best wheels so just out of the box you have a nice set of wheels that should last a while. Again thats just me and my experiences. I find also Alakli has good people running the brand and customer service so if you did have an issue they take care of it.

So Inhaler AC5 vs Alkali CA4.. not gonna go for the CA5 as I would have to replace the wheels, at least that's what it says on inlinewarehouse about the wheels.

Is the baking/break in really that good on the CA4s? Only reason I wasn't considering them any longer was due to a narrow-med heel.. but if that could be avoided via good breaking in..

Beleafer,

Not sure what guitar guy is taking about, but we do offer the best warranty in the business. I personally stand behind the product and will replace (no questions asked) if the skate falls apart or has any issues. Based on what you are looking to spend, I would go with the CA4 or CA5. The boots on CA4/CA5 are very similar, with the major differences being the wheels. Our fit is very customizable with a heat fit, and has the ability to fit almost any foot.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them directly: justin@alkalihockey.com

I have not had any need or want to change from my Alkalis. Like Justin said they stand behind the product and any issues I might/might not have I know that they will help me out and take care of. By inline guys for inline guys goes a long way. I have been in an Alakli boot since they came out and other than changing from the CA9 to the RPD I have not changed a thing. I have worn the AC1 and APXR and still go back to my Alkalis. I let guys try them on and use them any chance I get and never get a bad response.

You guys have convinced me. Gonna order some CA4s shortly. Would go with the CA5s but I would need to replace the wheels as they can't be used on smooth concrete apparently. Which is a shame as the red/black/white matches my teams uniforms.

The Ca9 would be a different price point compared to the X6.0. The Ca7 would be a fair mate to the x6.0.

i think CA9.

And I think Justin might know the product a little better than you or me.
