How to beef up my shin guards

Recommended Posts

So I have a pair of really old shin guards that I have been using since midget (almost 10 years ago) and I really like the fit of them so they haven't gone anywhere. Anyways, last night I took a blast to my lower shin area and I thought I broke my leg. The liners/padding on these things are pretty much shot. Is there a way to beef up the plastic or get extra liners? What kind of foam should I look for?

Another option I thought of was if Farrell or another company had socks with those shock absorbing squares but I can't find any.

Thoughts? Opinions? I don't want to buy new shins.

You could use the liners out of a new/lightly used pair, and speedy stitch them to your existing liners.what model shins do you have now?

Given the age, the plastic has probably weakened a bit as well. I would strongly suggest picking up some new ones. Adding new liners or additional padding is going to change the fit and you'r going to spend as much on new foam and lining as you would for a mid level pair of shin pads.

Try on a bunch, I'm sure you'll find something that fits well enough and will be just as comfortable fairly soon.
