X:60 8.5EE (272) APX 8.5EE (280) is this normal?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I just wanted to find out is this normal? I used to skate on X60s then got APX same size, but it came with a larger holder. I mentioned it in my posts relevant to other topics, but wanted to find out if this happened to anyone else and if you went if it or went back to your original holder size?

Thanks

Are you SURE that yourX60s were a EE and not a D? Because the holders DO jump up in size if the skate goes from a D to a EE.

Example: My vapors were a size 6.5EE with a 263 holder. The same SIZE but a D width has the 254 holder. It seems at the half size form D to EE the holder size jumps.

With bauer you never know what size holder they'll put on a skate. I've had pairs come in that had different sizes in same model. EE's are usually 1 holder size larger, but you never know.

I'm an 8.5EE in x:60 as-well (272 holder), a pair of 7.0 that I received was retrofitted with ICM holders, the previous holes (from the LS2) were larger than the spare 272 I had around so I assume there was a 280 mounted.

Please report on how you are adjusting to the 280 holder, if you required re-profiling or got used to it. I had problems with the LS2.1 on a 272 (which should be similar to LS2 on 280, right?) and went back to LS2 as no LHS does re-profiling.

I actually switched and did not need to re-adjust at all. As mentioned switched to APX skate same size but bigger holder and it was a visible improvement for me right from the first skate. Speed, turning, especially noticed that I was able to push out of a turn much more efficient. I also felt that I have more blade to use for a push. Always factory profile though which was 9ft radius I believe.

Thanks RussianPlayer, good to hear, so maybe I won't have to downsize in future skates just to keep the 272 :)

Np. I also got step steel blades and they are 10 inch radius by factory I believe. I skated already probably 10 times or more on them. Start to debate if if should get back to a 9 inch radius or try to do some profile work. It could be that the hill is catching the ice, don't know. Trying to figure out how to get bit more agility with what I got with my setup now.
