Helmets with similar fit to an 11k reebok

Recommended Posts

As i am nearing my helmet decision, I want to make sure I am not missing any choices in new helmet. I have tried on quite a few, the Krown, some CCM helmets, few others, but nothing comes close thusfar of fitting my odd dome than the Reebok 11k (currently in an older reebok model) any suggestions that i might have missed?

if the 11k fits you why not go with that?

This. If nothing else works, that might be it.

Have you tried a Bauer 7500, 9900 or 8500?

Any Easton helmets? The E400 seems to fit a lot of people.

The reebok fit me well, but I ended up in an Easton E600, moreover, in a medium when I'm normally a large. Without question it is easily the most comfortable hockey helmet I've ever worn. If you haven't tried one, do it, but also remember to try down one size.

I would suggest trying an Easton, like the E600. The old Jofa 690 (Euro RBK 5k) are a similar fit too.

simply put, i am not going to just go with the first thing that works. This things gonna be protecting my cranium for years to come, so if theres other options i should consider, i need to look into them. Also, just because it fits the best thusfar doesnt mean its the best overall, there are some things i am not 100 percent sold on, maybe something else will fit a little better. Its nothing against the 11k, just not sure how i like the adjustable dial for width, it seems to help a little but i am afraid its just a moving piece on a 200 dollar bucket that can break.

Thanks for the suggestions, ill give an E600 a try. How good are the cages that come with easton helmets in the combo? how is it in weight compared to an 11k?

Ive tried one bauer so far and wasnt that impressed with the fit, are they all pretty similar in fit?

The cages themselves are fine, though people have had problems with that particular combo because once setup, the cage juts out too much, not covering the chin properly due to the placement of the attatchement ports. Some have had luck by going down a size while others have had luck by switching to a Bauer cage. Be careful in this area.

No, all Bauer helmets fit differently from each other, so it's a good idea to try different models.

The cages that come with the helmet are fine as long as it fits, not everyone will be the same size cage as they are for the helmet.

Which Bauers did you try on? I can fit the Re-AKT, IMS 9.0 and the 5500/7500 comfortably but not the 4500, 8500 and 9900.

I don't remember the model number, to be honest. It's been about 15 years since I've actually bought a helmet (last reebok was a gift and before that I didn't play enough to buy a new lid) are the Bauer models in any particular lines?

Well, technically yes with the introduction of the IMS line. Although I suppose that every helmet is different enough that you should still look at them independently. The IMS 11.0 is a higher end IMS 7.0 while the ReAkt and the IMS 9.0 are similar (though again, slightly different fit). Bauer's regular lineup remains in the ReAkt, 9900, 7500, 5100, 4500, 2100 and M15. Bauer classifies the 2100 and M15 as 'Rec' level, the 5100 and 4500 as 'Performance' while everything else is 'Elite'.

The 8500 is discontinued, but some stores should have old stock.
