Souldriver 64 Report post Posted June 16, 2013 So I did a quick polish of the helmet with some of my car car stuffs as even under the protective plastic there were lots of swirl marks, this is the result.like on tv, from afar the helmet looks nice and shiny. this was taken in the shade ona nice day btw.now this was predominant, on my silver helmet but i always wrote it off as being part of that specialized color. but even on this black helmet you can see some swirl marks if you look close. you can see a darker band between the center bump and the big center ridge on the left hand side of the picture. it runs from where the 2 pieces meet down towards the front. Now here is the big one.IMHO opinion that isnt really very black. and yes it does also show like this indoors as well. compare the screws to the helmet color and its a stark contrast. like another has said its more of a dark dark brown. To me its the color of the dirty oil that comes out of my lawnmower and very dark brown, grey mess. Im not sure if it wasnt mixed properly or whatever plastic theyre using for the outside doesnt take black as well as it should but it is what it is. i brought the helmet for protection first off but something is a miss here.So with that said im looking forward to using it for the first time in tonights game and then again tomorrow night, thatll give a good impression of its ventilation and sweat management,I also decided to make the helmet "mine" as you see i took of the little "CE sticker" and the square warning label. but i put this in its place...From my guitar business i have a couple of my logos on waterslides but some of them had minor defects that i wouldnt put on a guitar So i figured what the heck even though its a water slide it looks like a nice etching. If anything itll help me pick out my helmet a little better from behind. It also is very subtly and blends in nicely in most lights.Look for a review of this helmet after a couple of months, im hoping that i like it a lot and it helps my head to breath during the summer. AIREAYE 248 Report post Posted June 17, 2013 you used a polish on it? I would be careful as it technically voids warranty.
Souldriver 64 Report post Posted June 17, 2013 It's a super thin, liquid polish. I don't want to poke a best but I would love to see them prove there is anything on it.Anyway first game was tonight and my friend noticed it when I pulled it out of the bag. I let him try it on quick and he said it was really comfortable as well. Ventilation was great and even as I was dogging it after being still a little sluggish from my beer garden drinking yesterday, no hot spots on my head and nothing got overly heated even with the visor on.I was sweating pretty hard but there wasn't a drip on the visor. The only thing that got onto the visor was some spray from my crewed cut hair when I took the helmet off from the front but that's my error.I did notice that the visor loosened up significantly from when I put it on at my house to the lockeroom unvealing. Luckily the new guy on the team had a multitool so I tightened it up a ton. It seemed ok after the game but I'll keep an eye on it over the past couple games and see if it's a real issue.Next game is tomorrow late night so I'll get to see how it dries out. I took it out of the bag an popped up the suspendtech liner to let air run through easier.
Souldriver 64 Report post Posted June 18, 2013 ReAkt guys:When I went to out my helmet in my bag I turned it upside down and pushed the suspend tech back in. I noticed the middle pad on the top was coming down in the front. I thought oh great, it's already busted but I noticed it's held on in the back of the helmet and it seems it's under other pads.Is this middle pad not glued in so it slides with the adjustment? Any of you other guys notice this? I tried to look under it but saw no glue spots, I also put my fingers between the pad and the outter and felt no glue. mojo122 540 Report post Posted June 18, 2013 The suspension liner is one integrated piece. Anchored around the perimeter of the helmet with the liner itself 'suspended' within the helmet.
Souldriver 64 Report post Posted June 18, 2013 Yes.But I'm talking about the stiffer black padding behind it, right on the top of the head in the middle.Sorry rereading what I wrote I wasn't specific with what I wrote.
LearDriver 1 Report post Posted June 21, 2013 I haven't noticed anything hanging down "abnormally," but I'll try to remember to check when I'm back in town tonight.
Souldriver 64 Report post Posted June 21, 2013 Thanks Lear. I noticed it when I had the suspendtech liner popped down go dry over night. I turned it over and my finger felt the hard black foam hanging down. It seems it's held in at the back of the helmet and maybe it's loose up front to slide with the adjustments. It goes back fine and is held there when my head is in the helmet but I don't want anything happening down the line after the warranty is up.
LearDriver 1 Report post Posted June 22, 2013 Just checked and all of my "fixed" foam in the helmet is in place and hanging in there like a champ.
Souldriver 64 Report post Posted June 23, 2013 Thank you LearIll talk to Bauer about it. It only happens when the suspend is popped out, and it's hard to see but I didn't see or feel and glue on the back that may have come undone. Either way if it's not supposed to be like that I'm sure it'll be warranties and better to get that donesooner than later.
LearDriver 1 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 No worries. I should add that I've never tried to take my suspend parts out though.
Souldriver 64 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 yeah, i mean its still attached, i just "pop" it outwards, you need to take the helmet apart to actually get that stuff fully out.
Meals 2 Report post Posted July 28, 2013 Thanks for staring the post, lots of great information.I recently moved to Austin and I'm playing Ice Hockey here. The shops are don't have the selection of the ones up north as far as high end helmets. On that note being I need my brain for work in which I do math all day, I need a new lid.My head is 22" and is some what narrow. I'm in a Bauer 5100 med now fits good, but is beat and does hurt my temples after an hour. I ordered a ISM 11 in med but it fit bigger than the measurement listed so it went back.I too am looking at the e700, RE-Akt, ISM 11 ( a small this time) and the Reebok 9k. I've been able to try on the reebok and the locking system was pretty cool. But, I bet it breaks in a week. Will have to wait to try on all the other, but advice is welcomed. I have Re-AKT Size M with the Titanium Cage, 23.5 cm head, the cage is a bit small (the one that comes with the helmet) but it shall suffice.
Souldriver 64 Report post Posted July 28, 2013 the ims11 is the updated M11 cascade (am i saying that right?) helmet with a few modifications to the venting. but bauer names are a little confusing now as the ims 9 is similar to the re-akt but without the suspend-tech. but i believe the ims7 is back to being like the cascades.i found if you have a wider jaw bone on the sides the e700 will pinch in on you and hurt. this is disappointing bc i really like the helmet otherwise when trying it on but i wouldnt be able to live with it.you really need to get out there and try on helmets as even the same brands model lines vary from model to model. make the trip or try to find a couple of other shops closer on google and get out there. Meals 2 Report post Posted August 3, 2013 I didn't like the ISM 11.0 and the e700 is great, but didn't fit the greatest. I ordered an Re-Akt two sizes as per the sizing chart I fit in both. I'll let you know what I end up with. Should be here Monday by 2pm and I have a game at 10pm as Mr. Bruns would say...Excellent!
