Pant Recommendation

Recommended Posts

Wearing a pair of medium sized X:40's. Pretty lightweight but not enough protection for me. Two times I've gotten into some awkward tangles and hurt my hip bone, and, more than enough times with the area on the side of hips meet my ass meat.

The pants are the right fit but the plastic protection isn't long enough I guess? I had a pair of Graf's (with the evafoam) before and they were built like a tank - however, don't want to go that heavy, maybe somewhere in-between.

Any suggestions?

From what I hear, the CCM CL are the lightest (about 1200g for Medium), and have the most protection. Price tag may be a bit burdensome, and I hear they are bulky and take time to break in. For what it's worth, that's my choice (after a long layoff).

I recently picked up the CCM U12s and I love them. They're lightweight, very mobile, and required zero break-in time. It almost feels like they aren't there. I can't speak to the fall protection because I haven't fallen since picking them up, but for men's league, they're exactly the right amount of protection and mobility for me. Plus, the price was right on. This was after I'd picked up some Tackla 9000s which just felt like too much for me. Don't get me wrong, the Tacklas were great pants, but they just didn't suit me.

U+ CL's were awesome when I had them. Like what was said above, they're really light weight and offer great protection. But go to your LHS and make sure they're the kind of protection you want. Never hurts to see in person.

If you can find a decent pair of Tacklas, they're still the best pant manufacturer on the market imo. Check with you local retailers to see if they have leads.

I'm doing a long-term review on CCM CL's right now, and I absolutely recommend them if you can afford them. I've taken a couple nasty falls in them and haven't had any bruises or soreness afterward. They do take a little breaking in, but after about 4-5 games they feel great.

Here's a recommendation on what NOT to get. I was told Tackla made Eagle pants and spent 150 on Eagle px88, they lack serious protection on the back/hip section, virtually like falling on your a** with no protection whatsoever. So ya, dont get those.
