Minimum time after baking skates

Recommended Posts

What is the minimum time after baking recent Skates like Bauer TO NXG or APX2 to be sure everything is fine? There are several suggestions like 12h or 24h. Is there an official recommendation (by Bauer) ?

Of course you could do the Trick of putting the skates into a freezer and wait 1-2 hours. But would Love to hear the 'Natural Approach'

Most manufacturers will tell you 24 hours just to keep themselves in the clear. I typically also recommend 24 hours just to make sure there is not an issue that could be related to skating on them too soon. However, in most cases 12 hours is sufficient cooling time. Obviously it depends where you put them to cool that dictates how long they will actually need. In the Mako's case I would definitely wait 24 hours. I baked mine for 15 minutes (footbeds removed) then kept them on for about 30 minutes.

Where would you recommend to put skates? In The basement?

In the winter I put them outside for a few hours and skated on them that night. Didn't damage the boots to my knowledge and I've done the freezer trick as well. I'm sure it's not recommended though.
