effect on sticks

Recommended Posts

alright recently i experienced an injury that is putting me out for a few months so i figured this would be a good time to work on my shot power. but i don't want to damage my sticks but i will have my shooting pad on a smooth concrete surface. will this ruin my indoor sticks? should i maybe put something under the pad? or just avoid using my indoor sticks all together? i did a search but nothing came up.

Well I think using a heavier outdoor stick with the same flex profile would be good bc the extra weight would help. Like a batter's donut per say.

At one point when I had a 2 piece I read somewhere someone suggested putting pennies in your stick and using it. I tried it and all I can say is that it will make your stick blade heavy, because you can't fill the whole thing or it will be really too heavy. And that j don't think it helped much.

Smooth concrete will rip your stick to shreds. A shooting pad should be fine though.

yeah id be using a pad just wanna make sure that putting the pad on concrete will be fine

If you really want to save your stick, put a piece of hardboard down over two bits of wood, (so the hardboard sits about 1/4" off the concrete) and then your shooting pad on top. Idea is that when you hit a slap shot, the board gives a little therefore reducing the wear and tear on your blade.

Taking hundreds of shots is going to wear out your stick. As long as you are shooting off a pad, you're doing as much as you can to prolong the life of the stick.
