Help With Choosing Stick!

Recommended Posts

Hey!! Im new to playing ice hockey and have two composite sticks already (a warrior 100 flex kovalchuck and a easton stealth 55s 87 flex iginla) but now that i am playing more and more i would like to move up to a little higher level of stick and in order to find the best curve/flex for my style of play. I was looking to spend no more than $150 on the stick and have been looking a lot but am still not sure. The three sticks that I am between are the Graf Supra G55, Combat 52 Caliber Square, or Reebok 25k RibCor. Any input as to which of these sticks is the best would be much appreciated! Or if someone has another option I am open to suggestion. Thanks in advance.

Love my 25k so far. It's so well balanced and has plenty of pop for you. Highly recommend looking at that one. Also I haven't used it, but the dt3lt felt really well balanced when I held it in the store. Check them both out and see what feels nice to you

The warrior rep on here says the dt3lt has the same stuff as the top.if the line dt1lt except of using north American aulerospace carbon it's using different stuff and is being made overseas. To me that sounds like a good deal, the 25k has also been getting good looks as well from a value standpoint. I would go to a store and try these out or at least pick them.up.if you can.

Also I see you're using some.high flexes. When you shoot are you easily able to use the shafts flex to add to your shot. My question is bc you are saying you are relatively new to hockey and the two flexes you listed are relatively high and will feel higher once you cit the stick as well (if need be).

Thanks for the help guys. My brother is looking for a stick too so we are gonna each get one and then kinda share haha. He is leaning towards the 25k and I think Im gonna get the Graf. It feels really good in the hands and has the curve i want. I like the idea of the dt3lt but i already have a warrior so would really like to try another brand.

Yeah Souldriver the flexes are too high for me. I am 5'11 about 155lbs. The 100 flex was from a friend who had extra sticks and gave it to me. I can flex the easton (87 flex) but not enough. They have both 65 (X-whip) and 75 flexes so i am not really sure which i should get?

Im a big advocate that height and weight play less of a role than how you actually shoot. i would go to the store and see what one is easy to flex for you and think about how you shoot and what shots you take most, do you really bear down or is it quick and light. also do you cut your stick much? there is a bit of personal preference i prefer a slightly stiffer stick for faceoffs as well but other like noodle whips.

also dismissing a good stick like the dt3lt bc you already have a warrior seems a bit silly imho, i say still give it a chance. not ure what model your warrior is but they have made some big strides the past 2-3 years.

When I first held the Graf I was impressed. I really liked their grip system, and almost bought one. The 25k feels much more superior to me though so I wouldn't consider it myself now

the 25k feels better in store but the graf has a better life span where the blade wont wear out as quickly..

What were you using before the 25k? Seems like a great value, I just haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

I always, always go with previous year clearance of top end.

This is going to be your best bet. I'm sure with the holidays coming up, Apx's, RBZ's, 20k's, etc will almost be at half price, which puts them around the range you're looking at
