hckysticks 1 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 I a pretty tall guy, 5'10, I weigh about 150 and I am pretty strong. I have been using senior sticks for a while and one problem I have had for a while is really being able to flex my stick when I shoot. I am really confused of what I should do. I have a good shoot but I feel that with all the new technologies that companies are putting into sticks concerning the flex, I should take advantage of the new technologies. Should I move back down to intermediates to harness the flex of my sticks or change my shooting style or what or even just stick with no getting very much flex out of my stick and having a pretty good shot. I have no idea how I should address this situation because I am still not a complete believer in more flex = harder/better shot. Let me know what you guys think. TeamHonda401 54 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 What flex are you currently using? How much do you cut your sticks down? Are your current sticks mid-kick or low-kick?
thejackal 46 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Try the pull wrist shot - drag the puck into your strong side foot (left for leftiea and vice versa). That will give u a feel for it. Search 'scott bjugstad shooting' on youtube for a good demo
splitbtw 2 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 Do you feel your stick flex? There are few more satisfying things than getting hold and a shot and feeling the stock bow in that sweet spot. Not too much causing lost energy and not too little in not getting enough.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 Without seeing you shoot, there's no way to offer a definitive answer. Generally, I feel that you should feel your stick flex on wrist shots. If you aren't getting that on a 75ish flex senior, then moving down to intermediate may be a good idea. More flex isn't always better, especially if you don't know how to shoot with a stick that flexes.
