swineanddine 2 Report post Posted January 1, 2014 Hey guysI started playing hockey a few months back and when I bought all my gear I wound up getting really cheap skates (Bauer Supreme One.4's) as it was the only way I could afford to get everything I needed. I accepted that they were cheap and crap and that I would need to upgrade as soon as I could. Anyway, long story short, Hockey Monkey has some CCM U+ CLs discounted right down to $350...including postage to my country that will total less than $450 (probably closer to $400). Catch is, I'm a bit unsure about sizing. My current skates are size 9D. I usually wear size 11 shoes (which is weird because i know that the skate sizes are supposed to be 1.5 not 2 sizes different). There are no shops in my city that sell CCM skates for me to do ye olde sneaky try on in-store, purchase online and I wouldn't do that to my local store anyway 'cause they're good guys. Purchasing high end skates in my country will cost at least $700, for last seasons stock, and $800+ for this season's stock. Can't do that. What are my options for finding my correct size? I'd really like to do this upgrade soon, and this would be a decent upgrade, but I can't justify or risk having the wrong size skates turn up. Cheers
SirJW 207 Report post Posted January 1, 2014 If you like the way your Supremes fit why not look for an upgrade from the line? Look around there should be some on sale.
bunnyman666 445 Report post Posted January 1, 2014 I second SirJW on this. The Monkey always has crazy deals on stuff; the rub is is that it has to fit. The 14 day return policy (on sale items) wouldn't work as it sounds like shipping would be an issue.
MARKBENJ 1 Report post Posted January 1, 2014 If you have an insole from a skate that fits you well. Measure it out on a piece of paper and send all the measurements to customer service at the Monkey and the will do the comparison for the CCM skate and let you know what size you need.If this is not possible send them a photo of a sketch of your largest foot by e-mail. Use this tutorial to do it. Make sure you mark out all your measurements clearly on the sketch: Length - Width at widest point. They will give you the best suggestion. They will physically go and take the CCM skate and measure the footbed and send you their suggested size. One of these options will give you the best chance. I used the second option for a GRAF skate and got a text book fit.Their customer service is really helpful !
swineanddine 2 Report post Posted January 1, 2014 Thanks for the replies guys. Re: upgrading to a better model Supreme is an option however due to the low quality of these skates I've never actually felt comfortable in them. They were fitted by a guy at the shop, so I know they're the right size but after a couple of months they still cane my feet some nights. It could be a width thing, but i hardly feel like I have wide feet. Thanks for the suggestion of hitting Hockey Monkey with my foot dimensions. This will probably be my best bet. I wasn't aware they'd do something like that. Returning items isn't really an option especially due to the fact I need to go through a local mail handling company to even get most hockey gear shipped from the US. ----On that note, how do you guys rate the CCM U+ CL's? Chadd 916 Report post Posted January 2, 2014 On that note, how do you guys rate the CCM U+ CL's?They seem to be a pretty solid boot, one of the best that CCM has produced in a long time.
strafer 2 Report post Posted January 2, 2014 I don't know what I did wrong but my length came to 10.25 using that video tutorial and width after dividing is 2.56. I wear between a size 9 and 9 1/2 in US mens depending on the brand. I'm closer to a 9 for the most part. In work boots I always go with a size E or wider. I tried on on CCM RBZ, Vapors, and Pumps all in 8D's at a pro shop. The width of the toe box was an issue, not the length. The pair of skates I'm using now are Bauer Supreme Classic 100 8D which are way too narrow for me but the length is fine. I ordered CCM crazy lights in size 8E. Did I estimate the wrong size? MARKBENJ 1 Report post Posted January 2, 2014 I don't think so. If you are a 9-9.5 in a US dress or sport shoe it is pretty logical that you will be an 8 in a skate. Regarding the width an E sounds correct. If the skate is a little too roomy you can always change the insole to a Superfeet Yellow or a Graf Sidas which take up a little more volume. I think you will be ok with the 8E. I have read some opinions that CCM's run a little smaller than BAUERS's and the fact that you took the E will cover you here. You definitely do not want a skate that is too large.

Not really agreeing on this. I am a 9 dress shoe but wide and usually am a 6.5 to 7 E or 2E depending on the skate. Not that 8 would be huge but depending on width may be a bit to long. IceSkatingLife 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2014 Depending on the brand skates will run 1-1.5 sizes below you shoe size. Grafs usually run 2 sizes off. Baure Supreme, Graf and Reebok are a little wider than most in standard sizing. If the current size 9D in a supreme is a correct fit than that should fit you ino most skate lengths. From there you just need to figure out your width. In most cases you can measure the curcumfrance of the ball of your foot and look at the manufacture sizing charts.
