deathb4dismount 11 Report post Posted January 29, 2014 So I have myself a birthday coming up and the wife said she would buy me a new stick. I want to try something different this time. Currently using a MAKO II, I have been using Eastons since the aluminum days, and have always used the sakic/hall patern that I can remember. Recently I switched to the Iggy pattern and I am not a fan. Snappers are hard with it but I was more accurate with the Hall, probably just because I am so used to it. I want to go back to the same type of pattern but I was thinking maybe either the RBZ or DT1.I play wing and I never take slappers except an occasional one timer. I was thinking of also changing from 85 to 75 flex. I am 5'11" 185 right now.Thoughts?
Souldriver 64 Report post Posted January 29, 2014 For snappers and wristers most will suggest a low kick stick such as the apx dt1 ek15 etc. This does.t mean your occasional slapper won't worryk it's just different.I would go to the store and look at as many sticks as you can and out them in your hand. I for one hate the Easton shaft shape as it feels like an unwieldy box to me but others love it. I used to love the small rounded apx feel but I moved onto something a little bigger with the dt1. To me this is huge to how a stick feels and performs to someone.
MrData 93 Report post Posted January 29, 2014 I recommend the EK15. Lighter, at least as durable, and less expensive than the DT1 or RBZ. My friend has one and he takes a lot of wristers and snapshots. He says he loves it.
Fire Walker 22 Report post Posted January 29, 2014 I recommend the EK15 as well. I love the stick. Sherwood is the company i'll be using for a while for sticks.
mcne0101 16 Report post Posted January 29, 2014 I would go with an APX or Nexus. Backstrom pattern is the Sakic/Hall clone.I have an RBZ right now, i like it but I liked the APX/Nexus better...only reason I'm using an RBZ right now is because they have an iggy clone pattern at the retail level. Also, I like your idea to move down to a 75 flex. Keep in mind the MakoII is pretty whippy, a 77 Nexus is going to feel stiffer than your 85 Mako II. If you went with a 77 flex APX that should be right on the money in regards to what you're looking for.

You may be thinking of the newer dt1lt that is their new tops low kick stick. Also can't speak for the durability of the end or ek, but my dt1 won't die and isn't softening up. All the grays and chips on the toe that happen to every stick I just repair with crazy glue and it looks near new, I coulent say that about my apx. I've had mine for nearly a year now and have had some.hack and.slash chippy games with it and take faceoffs as well.

bwhockey17 12 Report post Posted January 31, 2014 The Warrior Dynasty AX1 is a great stick as well. I'm getting mine via warranty today, and I have to say the original Dynasty was amazing. Great pop and feel, and passing was amazing with it. If your looking for a low kick, the V9 or V9e works, as well as the Covert or Widow.
