Car question

Recommended Posts

I went to this 92 Honda Accord with 130,000 miles on it. THe price is right but he said that he had both axels replaced because he heard the rattling. He said the car hadnt been in any wrecks. Is he lying or is it possible for the axels to go bad like that?

Yea CV axles, You might want to make sure the the timing belt has been replaced. If not that's the first thing you will want to due.

The CV joint/axle assemblies are the most likely(and expensive) ones to go, as your rear "axles" are not driven under power and do not see much stress unless the car has been doing some serious road rally work....if the rears are about to go..be prepared to see a wheel go rolling by....:unsure:

You can hear the front joints when you turn the wheels hard under power, like cranked hard over..they will make all kinds of fun sounds.

You may well be right for the Honda Civics, but as they get worse in some other cars...they will make more than a clicking sound...ex wife's Buick sounded like a meat grinder with a bone. I suppose you assume logically that people will change them as soon as they hear a clicking sound lol, and not allow them to go to total bearing failure..
