New Skate Recommendations

Recommended Posts

I'm currently skating on 25 year old super tacks. I skate 2-4 times a week and I love the way they fit but the steel is almost gone so I'm thinking about finally getting new skates. I'm looking at the Reebok 16 or 17k or the rbz 80 or 75 le. Any advice on these or recommendations for other skates? I also love the way the old tacks fit so something that fits similar would be great.

The best thing you can do is hit up your local shop and try on a bunch of different skates, the fits vary so much and really come down to personal presence so that's the best first step.

I personally like Reebok because they perform well and they are the most comfortable for me. The fit of the reeboks compared to ccm are going to be a little wider in parts so definitely worth trying on both. If you're skating 2-4 times a week and do want to go reebok I'd look at the 18k or the new 30k, both are worth the money over the 16/17K's and will probably last longer as well.

Sadly I never got to own super tacks so I can't comment on which current skate might have a similar fit.

Well I finally got down to my LHS today and was able to finally try on a bunch of skates. I've narrowed it down to RBZ 80's and 16k's or the new 28k's when they arrive in early april. I'm thinking the reeboks fit me much better so i'll probably go with them. Any advice if I should get the 16k's or weight for the new 28'ks. The price will be around the same because I can only find the 16k's online in my size so after shipping and paying the LHS to bake them they will be around $10 cheaper than buying the 28k's at my LHS

I have the 16Ks now, very nice skate however I'd wait and get the 28Ks. I like the newer quarter package and holder, worth the wait I think.

Thanks for all the advice. I got a call from my LHS yesterday letting me know that they had gotten the 28ks in. I went up right after work and now I finally have new skates. They are sharpened, baked, and ready to go. I can't wait to get them in the ice today.

First off I have never been a Bauer guy but I did try them on this time around but they just don't fit me right. As far as the new tacks go I found out that they aren't going to fit like the old tacks that I've always skated in. Reeboks are the closest fit to the old tacks so they arewhat fits me best
