bauer tendon guard

Recommended Posts

after our game last night I was getting undressed in the locker room and when I took off one of my skates I noticed the tendon guard was just flapping in the wind snapped right off during the game the only thing holding in on is the liner of the skate , now my question is the skates are about 9 months old will bauer do anything about this just wanted to see if anyone here had a similar experience , and before people ask I unlace the top three eyelets so I can make the laces nice and loose to slip my foot right into the skate , I do not tape my tendon guards and I wear my shins over the tongue of my skates , so I don't think I did anything to cause a pre mature break down of the skate , and I skate at the very most two times a week mostly once a week for the league games. and also is there anyway to repair the skates they are finally broken in and very comfy!

SKATES

All skates are warranted against defects in manufacturing and workmanship per the following terms:

PRODUCT WARRANTY WHO SHOULD I CONTACT? Skate Boots 90 days from the consumer date of purchase If it is within 90 days of your purchase, please return to the retailer where you purchased your item for assistance with warranty.

While warranty exceptions are unlikely, if it has been more than 90 days since your purchase and you have the original receipt from an authorized BAUER dealer, you may contact us:

Nash made a tendon repair, but it's no longer on their site. Here is one on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nash-Hockey-Skate-Tendon-Guard-Repair-Kit-/121443494711?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c4698ab37

I seen that info on there web site but it says 90 days on the boot I was trying to see if anyone has had experience after the 90 days was up , seems like 90 days is a short warranty on the boot , 800 bucks on a pair of skates I would expect them to hold up better than this seeing that they are less than a year old I got them in april of this year

It can't hurt to ask.

I've had this happen on skates twice. I think it was just two instances of dumb luck, as I'm not doing stupid things with my skates. A good repair shop should be able to fix it. I think it cost me about $30 to get it done.

If you search the site, you can find some discussions about other people this happened to. I think used "tendon," then just went through the results.

I did a little searching and found some ideas for the repair , the place I bought the skates from told me to swing by they are going to contact bauer and see if they will send out skates or offer me store credit of some kind , but either way if I don't have to send the skates back I would like to repair them since they are finally broken in and nice and comfy ,thanks for the info start_today

There is a link to a Nash tendon repair kit at the bottom of my posts if you want to do it yourself. Would likely be more cost effective than shipping your skate off to someone if it's not able to be repaired locally.

I've gotten a few pairs replaced for customers that were over 90 days through Bauer. I would also say doesn't hurt to try and if they say no then look into repairing.
