Reebok Vs CCM Tacks

Recommended Posts

I believe the official line from CCM is that the Tacks are similar to Supreme and Ribcor is similar to Vapor. Having tried both on, my personal opinion is that the fit is very similar with a couple minor differences. The Ribcor seemed to have slightly less volume and a slightly smaller toe cap. For my foot, the feel in the ankle, heel and midfoot was pretty much indistinguishable.

No, their official skate literature never infers this. I can see how some would think that because their Ribcor line is the narrowest with RBZ being the widest and deepest.

I wish I could show you the booklet, they break down every difference from the size of the toecap (you're right there), the width comparison charts to the profile of the stiffest sections of each skate.

Sorry, poor choice of words. What I meant to say is the literature I have seen (which is less than you) seems to imply that Tacks would be closest to Supreme based on fit profile. I stand by my comparison of the Tacks vs Ribcor fit, with the caveat being its how they fit "My feet".

So, what is the verdict on the fit difference?Tacks are the most narrow in the heel, mid-foot and toe box?

Is it not, Tacks (power), RBZ (speed) and RIbcore (agility)? I could be wrong but that is what I thought it was. If that is the case it appears they are going for the "fit your game" motto.

That is marketing- it means absolutely nothing in terms of fit.

I don't understand the comparisons between Supreme and Tacks. The fit wasn't even close on my foot. I could barely get the Tacks skate on my foot it was so narrow, while the Supreme fit was almost perfect and I would say is comparable to the way the RBZ fit. The old Reebok skates used to fit me great. The new model Ribcore skates fit horribly and pinched me in the toecap.

In order from widest to narrowest the fit was RBZ, Ribcore, then Tacks, at least on my foot.

I wish I could have unfettered access to a complete stock of each brand, model, and size for one afternoon. I'd lay them all out in front of me and try each one on, compare and contrast each one.

The way it is, last LHS I went to the owner asks me "Do you still play?" "No, I just coach now." "What kind of skates do you have?" "Old CCM Tacks." "Are they comfortable?" "Yes." "Then why do you want new skates?"

The Ribcor is by far the shallowest of the three. I tried on a EE Ribcor and it was almost too shallow, and I have an extremely low volume, narrow foot.
