Easton Razor Bladz vs Razor Bladz II

Recommended Posts

Is there a difference in pitch with the original Razor Bladz holder to the Razor Bladz II?

I just switched to the Easton RS skates from the Easton 1500c's and I feel like I'm on my heels a little more with the RS's. I had the blades profiled by NoIcing exactly the same, so I'm trying to figure out if the holders may be slightly different...or perhaps just need to break the boot in a little more to allow the forward lean.

The RS came with the Elite steel that has a lot more steel on the heel and toe than the Parabolic steel that came on your 1500s. The excess heel steel makes you feel like you're on your heels when in fact it is not letting you get on your heels. It sounds weird but I went thru the same thing when I got my pair of RS last year.

Isn't that the whole point of profiling your blades? If I had a 10' radius on my 1500's and a 10' radius on my RS's, the curve of the steel will be the same. Considering the length of the blade is the same, then the amount of steel in contact with the ice should be the same.

Thanks for the info though chippa13. I'll do a little more research on the 2 blades.

If a 10' radius is put on 2 different sets of steel brands, yes the curve is exactly the same. How they feel on the ice can be very different. You can't make a equal comparison in your case, different boots, different steel, old steel that has been sharpened many times vs new steel, any one of those factors can make the "feel" different. The 10' radius you have is in the middle 2/3rds of the runner only, so while that may be the same as your old steel, what's different in the heel and toe radius can also make them feel different.
