X90R / 80-72 high low vs 80-76

Recommended Posts

Can the bauer x90r be set up with 80 -72 high low vs 80 - 76?

Been using Bauer skates for many years but always used 80 -72 high low and concerned about the

80 -76 set up, can this skate be converted to 80 -72?

in order to keep all the wheels on the ground, the spacing on the chassis will have the holes spaced in height by 2mm (in order for the difference between the 76/80 setup). With 72s on with 80s on the back..you will end up with not all the wheels touching the ground at one time.

For it to work..you would need to run 76/72 ....

I recently made the switch you are concerned about, I have been pretty happy with the 80/76 setup, and it did not take as much of an adjustment as I thought it might.

I too made a change in wheel sizes. I dropped my ten plus year old mission pro to skates to get new alkalis, a wheel change from 80-72 to all 80. I though I wouldn't be able to skate the same, but once I got around skating I couldn't tell a difference. (This is just my opinion) I think that varieties of wheel size is mostly marketing, and if it does have a performance aspect it's minimal. Unfortunately, this makes skaters like us think that there is some insurmountable difference in wheel set ups when there really isn't. Just skate with the 80-76 set up and see how you feel.

I too prefer the 80-72 setup. I had Bauer XR premier skates that called for an 80-76 setup. I used an 80-72 setup on the same frame with no issues at all. All the wheels will still touch and it made a huge difference for me. The only trade off is that you wind up with your wheels taking up a little less surface area than if the chassis was designed for the 80-72. I really dont think it will make much of a difference. Throw your 72's on the front and enjoy. Personally, i could never get used to any other setup.
