SCATMAN 33 Report post Posted January 7, 2015 Hey guys, just after some input from people who have seen these pads in the flesh and have tried them on. I'm not 100% sure what size I should go for and I am not able to try them on anywhere as pro shops in my area do not stock CCM..I am 6'1 @ 260, bit of a beer belly, wear 44" business shirts and I have fairly broad shoulders.Anyway, according to the sizing chart on hockey monkey I would be a Large, however I am worried that due to my broad shoulders and beer gut that I might need to go with an XL.. My fear for going to the XL which is outside of my measurements (against the sizing guidelines) that they will float and not fit properly.Size Underarm (in.) Underarm (cm.) Height (in.) Height (cm.)Small 34" - 38" 86 - 96 5'0" - 5'8" 152 - 172Medium 38" - 42" 97 - 107 5'4" - 6'0" 162 - 183Large 42" - 46" 107 - 117 5'8" - 6'4" 172 - 193X-Large 46" - 50" 117 - 127 6'0" + 183 +Not sure which way to go. I guess the alternative is to order the Large and if it doesn't fit.. Go to the gym? (My goal is to lose 40lbs anyway but it is a slow process)Something to compare: I currently wear XL Sherwood 5030's and have worn XL APX's that fit well. The Sherwoods are maybe a little snug but no problem. Thanks heaps in advance :)Also worth pointing out is that CCM use the same measurements on their Large as what Bauer and Sherwood use for their XL. swede 50 Report post Posted January 7, 2015 I have the same problem as you (no beer gut though)..I'm a former powerlifter, now a fitness/bodybuilding athlete. 47" chest, 34" waist, 5.11" tall and i havevery muscular shoulders. My lenght say i'm a L in most shoulder pads, while i'm a XL/XXL in width. So there is some problems..I solved this by taking the chest and back piece of a set of Reebok 16K XL shoulders, removed the shoulder caps whichdidn't fit my shoulders, and replaced them with Sher-Wood 5030 caps and bicep guards. My advice is to go custom like i did.. Or get some shoulder pads from the -90's (wider fit), when hockeyplayers still had some muscles.
enis750 48 Report post Posted January 7, 2015 Im 6'1, 200 and wear L, doubting they will fit you as well

Can you upload a pic of how yours turned out?Im 6'1, 200 and wear L, doubting they will fit you as wellThanks enis750 that is the sort of detail I'm after. Are the large ones a perfect fit on you? Are they long, tight or loose in any places? Cheers

I have the XL. Get the XL. I tried the L on and it while it felt slightly more streamline, it just was fitting right. XL has been fine for me. I dont even know they are there. CheersLike you I was in-between sizesThe Mediums fit fine as far as shoulder with goes, but weren't quite long enoughI now have the length, but still don't feel like they are too bulky in the Largegiven your size, no doubt an LG will be too smallon a side note they are awesome (I have the RBZ 130's)super light, low pro shoulder caps, don't retain much water and dry out super fast

I'm thinking I will see how the XL goes and if I find the shoulder width to be an issue I may try out swede's idea with putting some 5030 shoulders on. I've seen a few frankenpad pics of other guys popping the sherwoods onto the CL shoulders so they should fit.
Nealoc187 10 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 I'm 5'10" 150 and tried on RBZ in M and L and the M was best obviously, but L wasn't terribly large on me. I don't think the L would work on you. I'd say those are for a 200 pounder, max. You should get the XL for now imho.
SCATMAN 33 Report post Posted January 10, 2015 Once again, thanks for the input from all.I've decided to put my shoulder pad replacement on hold until I have seen some reviews of the new STX gear. According to a post on their facebook page the lines should hit retail in late April / early May and Im in no rush so I can wait. Only way I will try something different is if I get a great deal on some Jofa/8k/16K's then I can throw the 5030 shoulders onto them :)
